WATAIN Frontman Comments On Upcoming Decibel Tour With BEHEMOTH!
As previously announced, Swedish Black Metal miscreants WATAIN will take part in the inaugural Decibel Magazine Tour alongside Behemoth, The Devil’s Blood and In Solitude. The live ceremonies will begin on April 11 in Ohio and bloody 26 stages including a stop in Oklahoma City where the trek will merge with the U.S. Torture Tour featuring Cannibal Corpse, Exhumed, Abysmal Dawn, and Arkaik for an evening of audio devastation.
Pleased to take part in the event, frontman Erik Danielsson: “We were originally meant to spend this year in the shadows, focusing inwards and on the NEW material we have compiled during the years since Lawless Darkness was released. This tour however was a bit too good to say no to. It is so seldom these days that someone actually managed to put together a descent tour package, which Decibel sure has managed to do this time. A ‘clash of the titans’ indeed! And considering the other bands on the tour, I can just imagine our management and the promoters biting their fingernails in anxiety and horror, waiting for the first arson or murder report from the road. Touring the States is always inspirational; there is always lots of emotion, anger, debauchery, decadence and a general feeling of lawlessness in the air, so I am sure this tour will nourish the writing process to a certain extent as well. A rich and fertile foundation of harsh physical and emotional experience has always played a big role in WATAIN writing new material, and this tour will for sure contribute to that. We will aim to make it interesting and memorable enough to do so.”
Gruesome visual evidence of this tour package is forthcoming: We went all the way to Sweden to capture the frontmen and women of all four bands for our special Decibel Magazine Tour cover story, streeting in April. "Considering the fact that we'll be sharing the stage with the most evil and uncompromising bands around—Watain, the Devil's Blood and In Solitude—this already makes it a legendary bill that you can't miss out on!" promises Nergal. "Watch out. We won't show up—we will ARRIVE with all the strength and might!"

Behemoth, Watain, The Devil's Blood & In Solitude Reveal North American Tourdates!
This April, Decibel Magazine is bring the North American Metal Maniacs the "Decibel Magazine Tour"! The tour will not only feature the return of the mighty Behemoth to North America, but also Metallic titans such as Swedish Black Metal meisters Watain. Support will come from The Devil's Blood and In Solitude.
This not-to-be-missed tour is scheduled to begin in early April, and it will be a 26-date tour. We can all agree that this tour will be extra special, since it will be Behemoth's first U.S. tour since vocalist/guitarist Adam "Nergal" Darski's well-documented battle with — and triumph over—leukemia. This is what he had to say about this kickass tour.
"Considering the fact that we'll be sharing the stage with the most evil and uncompromising bands around — Watain, The Devil's Blood and In Solitude — this already makes it a legendary bill that you can't miss out on! Watch out. We won't show up — we will ARRIVE with all the strength and might!"

It only makes sense that Decibel would present a tour package with a sense of integrity, purpose and history. "It is a joint force of artistic adversity and sinister creativity," assures Watain frontman Erik Danielsson, "which makes me think of the glorious days when bands like Venom, Metallica, Exodus and Slayer toured together like a great middle finger raised towards their sheep-minded contemporaries."

"Part of Decibel's mission is to push the boundaries of what a metal publication is capable of doing," adds Decibel editor-in-chief Albert Mudrian, the tour's principal curator. "By bringing bands like Watain, the Devil's Blood and In Solitude to larger stages in the U.S, we create an additional vehicle to help raise their profiles. It's another way to infect the mainstream with the power of the underground."

Amebix - Knights of the Black Sun
Since we can not quite agree on a common list for this year's top 10 albums, it will be a list from each one of us on the same day, one list position in the morning and same in the evening, it will generate a lot of music here at the Tune Of The Day during these days. This year's list has been really difficult to tie together, started with a Top 50 and was sift hard, ended up that I had to go on the most listening records and many that in the beginning was obvious was removed. Right or wrong, judge youreselfs, hard as hell, I must say.
We start by presenting the positions outside the Top 10 that I, Stones have, that is 11-20 just like last year.
Top 11 - 20 on Tune Of The Day
11. Ghost Brigade - Until Fear No Longer Defines Us
12. Wooden Shjips - West
13. Hong Faux - The Crown That Wears The Head
14. In Flames - Sounds Of A Playground Fading
15. PJ Harvey - Let England Shake
16. Pyramido - Salt
17. In Solitude - The World, The Flesh, The Devil
18. Black Country Communion - 2
19. Amebix - Sonic Mass
20. Blood Ceremony - Living With The Ancients
Today I pick a song from an album that has grown a lot recently, but unfortunately it has got too little playing time in order to stretch higher and pinch a position in the Top 10. This band is actually quite new to me (Thanks Tom for the tip), Ive heard the name mentioned a lot over the years, but I have to admit, didnt really find out more about them, it has just passed me. This record is actually really good and I recommended this highly.
Amebix are an English crust punk/heavy metal band. Formed as "The Band with No Name," Amebix's original run was from 1978 to 1987, during which time they released three EPs and two full-length LPs. The group has reunited as of 2008.
By being one of the first bands to blend anarcho-punk and heavy metal music, Amebix are often cited as one of the key bands that helped to create the crust punk style. Such notable bands as Sepultura, Neurosis and Deviated Instinct have paid homage to the band.
Todays tune "Knights of the Black Sun " is the first single from the latest release "Sonic Mass", released in 2011

In Solitude - Serpents Are Rising
In Solitude is a Swedish Heavy Metal band from Uppsala. With their debut album in the trunk and a new in the pipeline, these brash youngsters stood on stage at The Strand to warm up the crowd before it was time for Ghost (which we wrote about yesterday) there is no doubt that these boys can play, classical heavy metal were delivered in the best possible way. The young fox fur-wearing frontman Pelle “Hornper” Åhman doesn’t use as much facepaint as his fellow brother in Ghost and he use no ecclesiastical dresses, he use a more straightforward rock and roll clothing. Overall it was good performance. This was the first time I heard them live, made me crave more and it ended up that I went home with their debut album on vinyl in under my arm.
Uppsala sons signed earlier this year a global deal with Metal Blade and has just been in Nicke Andersson (Hellacopters, Entombed, Imperial State Electric) new studio Gutterview Recorders in Stockholm. Together with producer Fred Estby (Dismember, Death Breath, Carnage, Necronaut), they crafted, what might can be a real good metal album, I heard a few tunes and it sounded really good. If i get my hands on the full album i will do a review of it here or on WeRock.
The band's current lineup is as follows:
Hornper - Vocals
Niklas Lindström - Guitar
Henrik Palm - Guitar
Gottfrid Åhman - Bass
Uno Bruniusson - Drums
Here is some pictures from the gig:
Todays tune "Serpents Are Rising” is taken from their upcoming record "The World. The Flesh. The Devil” is out 5/24 via Metal Blade. You can pre-order it now. The band’s playing their first US show 5/28 at Maryland Death Fest.

Ghost - Here Comes The Sun
Ghost is booked for the Getaway Rock Festival, Sweden Rock, Metal Town, and Roskilde festival in summer 2011.
Rumors claim that the members should be established persons in Stockholm death/black metal scene, who they are we leave unsaid. :)
On Friday the 13th it was time for me and my friend to witness "Ghost" Live when they did visit the Strand here in Stockholm together with In Solitude and Stench.
Devil himself must have had a finger or two when Ghost was created, with their down-smoked legacy of seventies Black Sabbath and classic doom metal.
They messes for their new initiates fans, like a pope in the church and that this is a dark well-played manifesto for an hour is no doubt. They played the new album and included the bonus tune from the latest record, the Beatles’ cover "Here Comes The Sun" and ends with the entire body of Christ.
Both me and my friend are happy with Ghost’s effort at the Strand and we are trying to get out from the explosive-filled concert hall with a smile placed higher than usual. We run into some known faces like Leif Edling (Candlemass) and David Isberg (Opeth), we are told the guys in the Ghost has been living in the rehearsal studio for three weeks before this gig, that this would become such a good gig as possible.
Here is some pictures from the gig!
Todays tune ”Here Comes The Sun” (Beatles cover) is the Bonus track from the album ”Opus Eponymous”
