Lisa Nilsson (born August 13, 1970, in Tyresö) is a Swedish singer. She was discovered by the legendary producer William (Billy) Butt and she is perhaps best known in Sweden for her 1992 hit, Himlen runt hörnet, witten by Mauro Scocco and Johan Ekelund. It was released in English in 1995, titled Ticket to Heaven. She has released four subsequent albums, Till Morelia in 1995, Viva in 2000, Små rum in 2002 and Hotel Vermont 609 in 2006, all in Swedish.
Nilsson's style ranges from out and out pop music to soul-inflected ballads and dance tracks on her earlier albums to a more mature jazz feel in her more recent work, perhaps reflecting familial connections as her father Gösta Nilsson is a jazz pianist.
She did a performance at Berns a couple of months ago and she got some taste for standing on the stage again so she put together a little tour and yeaterday she did a show at Circus here in Stockholm, she looked to be really happy to stand on stage again doing her finest songs, a great evening indeed.
Here is a nice cozy clip from a show at Duc des lombards, Paris, 2008. Lyrics by Lisa Nilsson, melody by Lisa Nilsson & Henrik Janson. With Niels Lan Doky, piano, Pierre Boussaguet, double bass, and Albert "Tootie" Heath, drums. The song is released on Lisa Nilsson's album "Små rum" (2001).
Kai Hansen formed Helloween in 1984, playing guitar and singing on the speed metal band's first four albums. He left in early 1989 and founded Gamma Ray with vocalist Ralf Scheepers (formerly with Tyran Pace). The duo intended to record a one-off project that Hansen originated while in Helloween, so they recruited bassist Uwe Wessel, drummer Matthias Burchardt, and several other musicians. The album, Heading for Tomorrow, was released in 1990 and proved a hit with fans and critics, so much so that Hansen, Scheepers, and Wessel decided to tour the album with added members Dirk Schlacter (guitar) and Uli Kusch (drums). And now 20 years later the band is still active and having a pretty big fan base, they still doing alot of touring between a album release and a few months ago (January 29, 2010.) did the band released their tenth full-length album, "To the Metal"! To promote To The Metal, Gamma Ray will headline a tour with Freedom Call and Secret Sphere.
The album was recorded in Kai's own studio in Hamburg in autumn 2009. The band has recorded 12 songs. Ten of them will be featured on the regular album release, while the other two will be bonus tracks and they will appear on the different editions of the album. The band described some of the songs on the official website, revealing that there will be a full-throttle number called "Rise", a rhytmic and melodically diverse song called "Time To Live", and a multilayered anthem titled "All you need to know", featuring Michael Kiske. Other songs mentioned are "No Need to Cry", a song written by Dirk Schlächter about the death of his father, "To The Metal", a song they played on various festivals last summer and the atmospherically dense "Empathy". "Rise" is one off the tunes from the new album that´s have a video, witch is taken from the bonus DVD.
Two days ago did Gamma Ray had a stop in Sweden for a gig at Klubben here in Stockholm, so i did a quick visit when i had some time off from Hansson De Wolfe. I did see the soundcheck and had a quick talk with the crew. Here is some pictures from the gig, taken by Jonte Strömberg, thanks dude!
So enjoy todays tune "Rise" with Gamma Ray taken from their latest album "To The Metal".
Album versions: 1. Regular jewel case CD 2. Limited edition featuring an additional DVD (including the making-of) 3. Red vinyl in gatefold packaging 4. Collectors’ edition featuring CD and 7” vinyl with 2 unreleased tracks, completely hand-signed

Sweden’s own M.A.N, are back with their third album Massive Audio Nerve, release today. The record was recorded in Gothenburg with engineer Svein Jensen and was mixed by Ulrich Wild, who has previously worked with White Zombie, Staind, Deftons, Pantera and Limp Bizkit, among others.
"Massive Audio Nerve" track listing:
01. Dead Set 02. Don't Wake Up 03. Logocide 04. Last Light Drains 05. Vivid Heart 06. Identical Abuse 07. False Memory Syndrome Pt 1 & 2 08. Slave Program 09. Mock At My Motion 10. Falling, Zero Status Zero
M.A.N contains of frontman Tony “JJ” Jelencovich and his many projects/side projects (b-thong, Transport League, Icon In Me, C-187, Angel Blake, Mnemic etc.) together with Rob Guz’s seven string (Own designed guitars), Engberg’s drums and Rob Hakemo’s bass making some crushing music that really can hit you in the face. The guys are very talented and you hear it on todays tune "Logocide".
M.A.N recently declared itself the very first metal band ever to have incorporated what it calls the "Full Scale Quarter Tone System" into its music — and metal music genre as a whole. According to the group, "'Full Scale Quarter Tone Systems' means that there are 24 quarter semi tones, instead of 12 'ordinary' semi tones, within reach of an octave [1200 cent]. This has led to new kinds of expressions and possibilities that have never been heard before, especially when this concept — cultivated and formed by M.A.N — is featured by more than just a solistic issue in order of solo instrumentalist matter or a solo part, but covered by the string instrument section in whole songs, with state of equilibrium with the ordinary semi tone system."
Yesterday they did have their release party at Helter Skelter/Harry B James here in Stockholm and i could not be there *sniff* well i hope they had a great evening. Tonight they will play in Gävle, be there if you are around that area of course. More tour dates below. LA's legendary rockers Ratt have returned with their first offering in ten years, Infestation, set for an April 20th release. Ratt is an American glam metal band that formed in San Diego and enjoyed significant commercial success in the 1980s. The band is most notable for their songs "Round and Round," "Wanted Man," "Lay It Down," "You're in Love", "Way Cool Jr." and "Back For More."
Ratt have enjoyed a rich, impressive and certainly long-lasting legacy through the years, having made their mark in the 1980s with 5 consecutive multi-platinum albums, including “Out of the Cellar”, “Invasion of Your Privacy” and “Dancing Undercover”. With 1984’s mega-platinum debut “Out of the Cellar” celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Ratt will embark on a world tour in 2010. It marks the Ratt studio debut for guitarist Carlos Cavazo, formerly of Quiet Riot.
Todays line up:
Ratt is Stephen Pearcy (Vocals), Warren DeMartini (Guitars), Carlos Cavazo (Guitars), Robbie Crane (Bass), & Bobby Blotzer (Drums).
Todays tune "Best Of Me" is the first single from the new record, enjoy this!!
Scorpions are a heavy metal/hard rock band from Hannover, Germany, probably best known best for their 1984 anthem "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and the 1990 ballad "Wind of Change". After 45 years of performing, the band continues to tour and record music. On January 24, 2010, the band announced that they will be retiring after touring in support of their latest album Sting in the Tail.
Sting in the Tail is the seventeenth studio album. It was released on March 19, 2010 in Europe. The album will have a duet featuring the Finnish symphonic metal singer Tarja Turunen, in the song "The Good Die Young". The album is produced by Swedish fellow Mikael Nord Andersson.
The new album "Sting In The Tail" might not break any new ground, but it is very much a celebration of their classic sound you can hear some trace of the old classic "Crazy World" and yes there is a new "Wind of Change". With 45 years years long career will surely leave some marks on the guys, but hell no, they still sounds as Scorpions did before, melodies are there and he still can sing as before. You can hear and feel that the band once and for all want to make a genuine Scorpions record, especially after the Desmond Child fiasco of last album. But even if the attempt to do a real hit bang album it not enough, but this is the best effort they have done the last 10 years. The only real memorable rocker is opening track "Raised on rock", (Todays tune) a typical Scorpions hit with extra blotched lyrics. A tip of my hat for an honourable decision to sign off after this, rather than to die and be resurrected again and again that so many others do.
Scorpions will travel the globe one last time on the "Get Your Sting And Blackout" tour. Don't know if they will come to Sweden yet, but the tour dates that's are already announced is the end of this post.
The line-up is Klaus Meine (vocals), Matthias Jabs (lead guitar), Rudolf Schenker (guitar), James Kottak (drums) and Pawel Maciwoda (bass)

Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders is a band founded by Taylor Hawkins, current drummer for the Foo Fighters. Hawkins is the drummer and vocalist for the trio. Other band members include Chris Chaney (bass) and Gannin Arnold (guitar) and Nate Wood (guitar).
In 2006 the band released their debut self-titled album Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders. It featured 11 songs which were recorded by the band during 2004, before Foo Fighters started recording In Your Honor. Their first official video clip was of the first song off the album, titled "Louise" witch is also todays tune. Taylor Hawkins have a new album in the pipeline, named Red Light Fever is to be released on April 19. It features some nice set up of supporting cast, which would eventually come to include Elliot Easton of the Cars, Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen, and last but by no means least, Hawkins' bandmate Dave Grohl. The album was recorded at Foo Fighters' Studio 606 in California. It's a album that im looking forward to hear as the first one is very interesting rock album and the small sound clips that they have released on their website sounds promising.
Chaney and Hawkins had previously been in Alanis Morissette's tour band 'Sexual Chocolate'.

Alex Chilton, Frontman of soul-pop group The Box Tops, co-founder of Anglophile Dixie guitar legends Big Star and latter day solo artist, unexpectedly passed away a few days ago after suffering a heart attack in New Orleans, aged just 59.
Today we will honour Alex Chilton with a tune, but first we will take a look of the major things this man has done in creation of music. William Alexander "Alex" Chilton born 1950 and sadly passed away in March 17, 2010, he was an American songwriter, guitarist, singer and producer best known for his work with the pop-music bands the Box Tops and Big Star. Chilton's early commercial sales success in the 1960s as a teen vocalist for the Box Tops was not repeated in later years with Big Star and in his indie music solo career on small labels, but he did draw a loyal following in the indie and alternative music fields.
As lead singer for the Box Tops, Chilton enjoyed at the age of 16 a number-one international hit, "The Letter." The Box Tops went on to have several other major chart hits, including "Cry Like a Baby" (1968) and "Soul Deep" (1969).
In 1971 did Alex join the power-pop group Big Star. Alex and Chris Bell co-wrote "In The Street" for Big Star's first album #1 Record, a track later known as the theme song of That '70s Show.
Between the Big Star and the reunion of the Big Star did Alex alot of solo things in the 80's and 90's. The last Big Star album, entitled In Space was released September 27, 2005
He had been scheduled to play a concert with Big Star at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas on March 20; As far as I know the show took place as a tribute to Chilton, with guests joining the surviving members of the band.
Todays tune "Thirteen" was originally featured on the 1972 album #1 Record. It was never released as a single by Big Star. Rolling Stone describes it "one of rock's most beautiful celebrations of adolescence", and rated it #396 in a list of the 500 greatest songs of all time.
Here is a live clip at the Rhythm Festival Clapham, Bedfordshire August 2008
"Thirteen" has been covered by several notable musicians. They include: Evan Dando, Garbage, Håkan Hellström, Kind of Like Spitting, Mary Lou Lord, Magnapop, Elliott Smith, Wilco, Kathryn Williams among others. When asked if there was a Big Star cover he was especially fond of, lead singer Alex Chilton mentioned Garbage's version of this song.
Waylon Albright "Shooter" Jennings (born May 19, 1979) is an American singer-songwriter formerly active in the country music and Southern rock genres. The only child coming from the loinfruit of Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter.
Today i will put some focus on the album "Black Ribbons" the new concept album by Shooter Jennings with his band Hierophant. The album features dialogue written by horror author Stephen King, who also narrates the album. The album was released on March 2, 2010.
I have to admit it. Black Ribbons is a record i never saw coming from Shooter Jennings. But yet, here it is: Twenty tracks and 72 mins. So, is Black Ribbons a great record? Well, It's a challenging record, certainly, Shooter definitely deserves a tip of the hat for having the courage to undertake this project. This record has a futuristic sound with spaced out progressive rock but with a great feeling, but some country rock elements still peep through from time to time. Its a big risk the this record ends up in the bargain box as it's not the country rock as many fans expected this should be. When it works, it really works. And even when it doesn't, it's still pretty damn good. Enjoy todays tune.

After almost ten years Giant is back with a new studio album. Original members Mike Brignardello (bass) and David L. Huff (drums) have teamed up with vocalist Terry Brock (Strangeways) and guitarist John Roth (Winger). Dann Huff is still partly involved, adding guitar solos on two tracks and participating with the songwriting. Giant is very well know in the melodic rock areas with A.O.R.-classics ‘Last Of The Runaways’ from 1989 and ‘Time To Burn’ from 1991.
Promise Land is the title of the new album and has passed thru the mixing room with the right hands as the sound is great, thick and fluffy. And about the vocals as "Dann Huff" is no longer behind the microphone, well i could say that its a bummer but Terry is doing a hell of a job and he has a fantastic voice so there is no lost. Even the guitarist John Roth is doing a terrific job with some fantastic guitar passages. Promise Land is a strong album and i can recommend it to all of you who like Melodic Hardrock (A.O.R.).
Guitarist/vocalist Matt Pike, bass player George Rice, and drummer Des Kensel formed High on Fire in 1998, following the collapse of Pike's previous band, doom metal titans Sleep. But while Sleep had built their fame on impossibly slothful tunes and copious weed consumption, High on Fire displays a far more aggressive though still fantasy-themed style of heavy metal. And the guys just arrived with album number five. "Snakes For The Divine" includes everything the band have done before and now they have twist it a bit and take it up to a new level, the doom elements are more visible here than ever before, its dirtier, faster and with some Motorhead spices on top makes this record a top tenner. The producer of the album is Greg Fidelman (the man responsible for the most recent Metallica and Slayer albums) "Snakes For The Divine" is High On Fire’s finest hour this far.
Todays line up: Matt Pike - guitars, vocals Jeff Matz - bass Des Kensel - drums
Today's tune "Frost Hammer" is the first single out of this masterpice. Just lay back and enjoy this rock tune.

This is a norweigian black metal band that saw the first light in 1993.
Pretty black with a lot of satanic things in the videos.
The name comes from a volcanic formation in Iceland, Dimmuborgir. They done 8 albums and they are: "For all tid" came 1994 Then 1996 came "Stormblåst" after that "Enthrone Darkness Triumphant" 1997 "Spiritual Black Dimensions" 1999 "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia" 2001 "Death Cult Armageddon" 2003 "Stormblåst MMV" 2005 and last "In Sorte Diaboli" in 2007
They are on the move to let out a new album. Guitarist Silenoz of DIMMU BORGIR recently spoke to U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's follow-up to 2007's In Sorte Diaboli.
"The words that come to mind, if we should even try and attempt at describing [the new material] at this point, would be something like: grand, huge, epic and primal, " he said. "It has this eerie and haunting feel to it. Atmosphere and ambience!
Regarding why the wait between albums seems to be getting longer for DIMMU BORGIR, Silenoz said, "Because we want the next album to be a better and stronger one. We're more critical of each process and we take the time it needs. Quality is, at the end of the day, in the eye of the beholder, but once we start rushing things, like trying to write music while on tour to speed things up — forget about it. We've tried it before and it didn't work. We focus 110 percent on one thing at a time. Plus, if we'd release an album every year, where would the expectation be? Where would the excitement be?"
This tune comes from the album "In Sorte Diaboli".
This band Muse was totally unknown for my dirty metal soul, but as we did them at Hovet in Stockholm last year I gotto knew em. Some tunes are pretty ok. This tune is VERY ok :) Think they released it in 2006.
Muse are only 3 members Matthew Bellamy is lead vocalist, guitarist, pianist, and primary songwriter in the band. Christopher Wolstenholme is the bassist and backing vocalist. Dominic Howard is the drummer.
They did "Showbiz" in 1999 then "Origin of Symmetry" 2001 "Absolution" 2003 "Black Holes and Revelations" came 2006 And last "The Resistance" in 2009
This tune comes from the Black Holes and Revelations
Enjoy!

Dave Matthews Band (DMB), is an American pop-oriented-jam version of the Grateful Dead crossed with elements of jazz, funk, and the worldbeat explorations of Paul Simon and Sting. The band formed in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1991. Founding members were South African vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews, bassist Stefan Lessard, violinist Boyd Tinsley, drummer Carter Beauford, and saxophonist LeRoi Moore. With musicians who each have roots in differing genres, including jazz, classical, soul, rock, bluegrass, and hip-hop, the band has come together to create an eclectic sound which has earned them fans from a variety of quarters.
The band is known for their annual summer-long tours of the US and Europe, featuring lengthy improvisational renditions of their songs, accompanied by elaborate video and lighting and tonight Dave Matthews Band will perform at sold out Arenan here in Stockholm. Im sure it will be a great evening.
Todays tune "Funny the Way It Is" and is the first single from the seventh studio album "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King" which was released on June 2, 2009.
Funny the Way It Is performed by DMB at The Beacon Theater on 6.1.2009
Note :
Dave Matthews Band allows audience members to record most live shows and permits non-profit trading of the recordings. The band cites college students trading these tapes in the early 1990s as a key reason for their current fame. Up until February 23, 1995 the band allowed tapers to plug directly into the soundboard at shows but after profiteering on these often high quality tapings, the taping policy was changed to only include microphones.
In recent years it has been common to see several sources per show, sometimes as many as five or more. As microphones and recording equipment have become more inexpensive and of higher quality, the quality of tapings has improved.

As I am in a metal mood nowdays I searched for some metal in the pile of metal bands.
I found a finnish band called Warmen. Think its a bit of a project band as keyboard player Janne Viljami Wirman, also known as Warman. been playing with Children of Bodom since 1997.
Now I read here... Warmen may have started out in 2000 as Children Of Bodom keyboardist Janne Warman's solo project with a bunch of hired guns helping him to put his musical inspiration to life. Their "Unknown Soldier" -debut (2000) was exactly that, but already on their second effort "Beyond Abilities" (2002) Warmen was already more like a real band.
Warmen lineup: Janne Warman (Children Of Bodom) on keyboards Antti Warman (The Scourger) on guitars Mirka Rantanen (Thunderstone) on drums Jyri Helko (For The Imperium) on bass
They did 4 albums In 2000 came "Unknown Soldier" out followed by "Beyond Abilities" in 2002 Then "Accept the Fact" in 2005 and last "Japanese Hospitality" in 2009 Then they released a compilation album in 2010 called "The Evil That Warmen Do"
Thought I gave u a bit of the latest. Instrumental and a fantastic cool guitar and keyboard teamwork..
