Treat - Roar

Treat is a melodic-rock band from Stockholm, Sweden. In the second half of the 1980s they had national as well as international successes with songs like "Too wild", "Get you on the run", "Ride me high", "World of promises" and "Party all over”.

They have been playing on arrangements like Monsters of Rock 1988 in Germany, they were the opening act for Queen in Sweden in 1986, and opened for W.A.S.P. during their first Sweden visit.
In 2005 they did a comeback and released the collection Weapons of choice 1984-2006 on March 19, which included the previously unreleased track "Still in heaven" along with the two new songs "GO!" and "Burn for you". They did their first reunion show in front of 4000 people on the Sweden Rock Festival on 10 June 2006.

This evening is Treat playing at Debaser Medis here in Stockholm, as support for Treat we have Houston (Swedish AOR band) and Treadstone (Swedish Melodic Rock band, kinda good actually). I was going to take a fast visit to Debaser, just to say hello to a friend that works with Treat and after that the plan was to go to a photo session with Supralunar (Swedish Rock, Powerpop band that really rocks), but i have no babysitter this evening so i will be stuck at home, so i wish them all luck thru this post.

Todays tune ”Roar" is picked from their latest creation ”Coup De Grace”. The song ”Roar” is the main theme of the Facebook app game "Monster Galaxy”. Enjoy!

Kinda cool college project of the song.

Aldo Nova - Fantasy

Well then it was Friday again, today I will share with you a real classic, we do a flashback to the year 1982. This was the year that Aldo Nova debuted with the album, Aldo Nova and had a big hit with the single "Fantasy. He was also known for the song "Monkey On Your Back" from the album "Subject ... Aldo Nova". But after the fiasco of the third album "Twitch" (which became an unexpected success in Sweden), Aldo Nova put his music industry on the shelf. Six years later he returned with the album "Blood on the Bricks" in which he wrote most of the songs with Jon Bon Jovi. The record was no further success and Aldo Nova stopped completely as a solo performer. In recent years have Aldo Nova worked as a songwriter and with some success, he have done some hit songs for Celine Dion and Clay Aiken.

In 2010, planned a comeback album, entitled "Too Much Sex". His first concert would have been at the Sweden Rock Festival, but the concert was canceled due that he is recovering from a very serious surgery and was not allowed to perform as it could danger the healing process. But since Aldo Nova himself had been looking forward to the gig he promised to return to the festival in 2011 instead, we'll see what happens with it, nothing is confirmed yet, it would be fun for both him and the fans to see him perform again.

Todays tune "Fantasy" is the first single from Aldo Nova and is regarded as his most popular work to date. Released on his eponymous debut album in 1981. Check out the video, love the outfit he has, somewhat reminiscent of a Finnish car seat. Enjoy!

A cover version of the song, performed by Steel Panther, is the current theme song for the MTV show Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory. The cover by Steel Panther is now currently available as a download on iTunes.

H.E.A.T - Keep On Dreaming

H.E.A.T is a Swedish rock band formed in Upplands Väsby in 2007, when the bands Dream and Trading Fate merged. The band is signed by Peter Stormares record label StormVox, and in 2008 the debut album H.E.A.T was released.

In 2009, the band played at the Melodifestivalen 2009, the Swedish qualifier to the annual Eurovision Song Contest, making it to the final round with the song 1000 miles.

Vocalist Kenny Leckremo left the band after playing 27th July at Gröna Lund (Next to the Skinny Puppy Show the same day) The band is looking for a new singer. I really hope that they can find a good one as Kenny will be hard to replace.

Todays tune "Keep On Dreaming" is taken from their debut album, enjoy!

Yoso - Yoso

Yoso is a melodic rock/progressive rock supergroup combining former members of Yes (Billy Sherwood—bass/vocals and Tony Kaye—keyboards) and Toto (Bobby Kimball—vocals).

The term “Super-Group” can only describe the formation of two of the most creative and musical legendary bands of the past 30 years into the new band YOSO. Formed out of TOTO’s brilliant vocalist Bobby Kimball and the creative force of YES members, Tony Kaye and Billy Sherwood, it does indeed equal the magic of YES with the voice of TOTO. However, YOSO is much more than a combination of two classic rock groups. YOSO has combined their musical talents to produce an album of new music.

Todays tune is the title track "Yoso" from the debut CD. This is Live In Puebla Mexico Oct 2009.

Giant - Promise Land

After almost ten years Giant is back with a new studio album. Original members Mike Brignardello (bass) and David L. Huff (drums) have teamed up with vocalist Terry Brock (Strangeways) and guitarist John Roth (Winger). Dann Huff is still partly involved, adding guitar solos on two tracks and participating with the songwriting. Giant is very well know in the melodic rock areas with A.O.R.-classics ‘Last Of The Runaways’ from 1989 and ‘Time To Burn’ from 1991.

Promise Land is the title of the new album and has passed thru the mixing room with the right hands as the sound is great, thick and fluffy. And about the vocals as "Dann Huff" is no longer behind the microphone, well i could say that its a bummer but Terry is doing a hell of a job and he has a fantastic voice so there is no lost. Even the guitarist John Roth is doing a terrific job with some fantastic guitar passages. Promise Land is a strong album and i can recommend it to all of you who like Melodic Hardrock (A.O.R.).

Hughes & Thrall - I Got Your Number

Hughes & Thrall was musical rock project formed in 1982 by former Deep Purple and Trapeze bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes and guitarist journeyman Pat Thrall.

Around musicians this project is cited as a favourite album. By all accounts Glenn Hughes (bass and vocals in MK III and IV Deep Purple) 'stole' guitarist Pat Thrall after seeing him play with Pat Travers when that band opened for Def Leppard.

With Hughes suffering from addiction and alcohol abuse, this album was never really going to happen. The album is based of the classic 80's hard rock with a mixture of the funk styles so beloved of Hughes and a fusion texture from Thrall and it contains some very good material. Glenn's great vocal style is used well and creates some great effects of the tunes. Need to listen to tunes are 'The First Step of Love' (a real epic) and 'Muscle & Blood' (Great Riffs and heavy piece). The album was co-produced and mixed by Andy Johns, who had previously worked with the likes of Led Zeppelin, Free and The Rolling Stones.

Todays tune is one of the few videos that was made during this time, its a classic 80's tune, Enjoy!

Magnum - Don't Wake The Lion

Magnum are a British Melodic Rock band from Birmingham, England.
Formed as a four piece band back in 1972 by Tony Clarkin (guitar), Bob Catley (vocals), Kex Gorin (drums) and Bob Doyle (bass). Magnum have had several changes in personnel over the years; however, the core of vocalist Bob Catley and guitarist/songwriter Tony Clarkin remain today. Other band members who are active in todays Magnum is Al Barrow on the Bass Guitar, Mark Stanway on Keyboards and Jimmy Copley on Drums & Percussion (Harry James on Drums atm when they are touring)Harry was a fulltime member of the British band Thunder.

Yesterday Magnum visit Stockholm and Debaser for a show. As for the 3:rd gig in Sweden on this tour, first in Malmö then Gothenburg and now finaly in Stockholm. The crew was a nice bunch of British guys, but they were a little bit pissed about yesterday as it didnt work out to well with the local crew. Anyway, the gear got in place and time for some soundcheck and holymoses... Bob Catley, the little man from Birmingham went on stage and he actually growed to a giant. His voice is intact even if you can hear that he has grown up. The opening act this evening was M.ill.ion a Swedish heavy metal band formed in 1989 in Gothenburg by bass player B.J. Laneby. According to B.J. Laneby the dots in M.ill.ion was used "just to mess peoples mind up" :)

M.ill.ion did a pretty good show and got most of the crowd with them.
Magnum entred the stage just after 21:00, the evening started with a tune from thier latest album "Into The Valley Of The Moon King" called "Cry To Yourself" and followed with tunes as Take Me To The Edge, The Moon King and Brand New Morning, most of the tunes was from the new albums witch could feel abit wierd but in the end it felt pretty good anyway, it didnt really matter as this tour is for promoting the new album and its not a greatest hits tour as many other band does. But some older tunes came at the end of the gig anyway. Songs as Vigilante, Kingdom Of Madness and Don't Wake The Lion. A great part was the tune "Shame For The Bad Boy" witch is a Hard Rain song, (Tony Clarkin old band).

So the final review is that it was a great evening, not much to complain about and Magnum still rock!
Todays tune is a classic one that is very powerful called "Don't Wake The Lion (Too Old To Die Young)" from the album "Wings Of Heaven". The Video is (Live Hammersmith Odeon 26-3-1988)
