CSS - City Grrrl (ft. Ssion)

CSS recently visited Sweden on their current tour. CSS, I have actually got acquainted with them earlier, can not remember if it was on the Accelerator festival or was it on the Way Out West festival, anyway. The band actually has a Swedish bassist on tour and made a nice impression during the day, when it was time to get up on stage after the Swedish "Du Pacque" warmed up, it was in full gear right away, the singer "Lovefoxxx" stepped up with a big black wig and sparkly arm/hand rhinestones, big pants that after a while were torn off as well as the wig. During the show she lost more clothes and in the end she just stood there in the top and a short pants. Not that the music spoke to me, but the performance was great, live they are very good at.

CSS is a Brazilian rock band from São Paulo. CSS formed in September 2003, consisting of a group of friends. The band was labeled as part of the explosion of the New Rave scene. Their songs are in both English and Portuguese. CSS is an abbreviation for Cansei de Ser Sexy, literally "I've grown tired of being sexy" in Portuguese. (Their name was taken from a reported quote by Beyoncé, who allegedly declared that she was "tired of being sexy".)

Todays tune "City Grrrl" is taken from the bands latest and third studio album "La Liberación"

Librah - Welcome Denial

Hey U all, Me and Stones have been busy as hell and are whole week, its so many concerts at the same time so we nearly dont see each other hehe, so I will do a shorty today. Yesterdays concert I will not be here on TOTD....I dont like the music, Rihanna, eeh no I couldnt, the only thing that sorta turned me on was when she did a Prince tune, "Nikki" but it totally died in the end. And I missed my Favvo band Lizette & yesterday, that was devastating.
But I found a great band ....

Librah!

I heard them yesterday and it hooked me like shit, but unfortunaly they didnt have a video but Ill play a "only sound" for you.

Librah is: Martin Boman vocals and guitar (Radio Host at the Swedish "Bandit") Henrik "Henke" Johansson on drums and vocals, Jonas Sundgren on Base.
The name means zodiacal sign Libra in Latin. Musically they describe themselves as a dynamic alternative rock mixed with psychedelic elements as well as oriental influences and many atmospheric loops.

The band released a new album on the 31 0f October and it have gotten many stars all over the place ;)

Incubus - Adolescents

The American band Incubus that plays alternative rock, released a new album in July 2011, and one of the first singles from this album is the tune of today.

The last album was released 2006 so they took their time there :D
Their early funk-metal sound was heavily influenced by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but broadened over the next few years to incorporate thrash, rap-metal, post-grunge rock, and grinding alt-metal à la Korn or the Deftones. By the time the musicians had graduated from high school, they had already been playing all-ages shows around Southern California on a regular basis.

According to vocalist Brandon Boyd, the majority of the album was written whilst the band was in the studio: "We recorded the songs while we wrote them, which is something we’ve never really done before."

Guitarist Michael Einziger noted that his contributions to the album were influenced by his musical studies during the band's hiatus: "Maybe my desire to return to simplicity, or even to just go to simplicity - because I've never really written music that simple before — is sort of a response to maybe having a better or larger perspective of the overall musical landscape that I’ve never had before."

Einziger elaborated further, "Over the years, we've become less and less aggressive as far as our music goes. There's always moments of that aggression, but this album is pretty free of that. It's definitely not a hard rock record. I think we're asking a lot of our fans. We're asking them to listen for things that they normally wouldn't listen for. We're not leaning on the strengths of our last records either. It's that much different than our previous work. I think we took a risk by making this type of album. But it's not some crazy, experimental album."

Vocalist Brandon Boyd cited Einziger as a key reason for the band's new direction, noting "Michael really buckled down and studied musical composition that inspired him to reach out and dig into different places that he never has before."

The Current members

Mike Einziger on lead guitar, backing vocals
Ben Kenney on bass guitar, backing vocals

Brandon Flowers - Crossfire

Hello again, it feels like it was ages since I wrote anything here. First a big thanks to Thetania that have kept life in the blog while I've been out on an adventure. Right now I have a deadspot in my pretty tight schedule here in Gothenburg. So far, I'm done with the festival "Where The Action Is” (WTAI), This was a really good festival. It was held at Azaleadalen (Azalea Valley), Slottsskogen in Gothenburg. 25,000 visitors during a sunny and fantastic day with lots of good music, a completely unprecedented environment of nature. The final exam of this will probably be a memory that they will certainly keep for a very long time. I really hope that this place used on any type of entertainment of the same genre.

It has certainly been an interesting time, but with much work and very little sleep. Unfortunately i have not been able to take so many pictures during this trip, had not really the time to photograph seriously during this hectic time, but mostly on the fly, but as they say, that always better than nothing. But i did hear Sahara Hotnights in the background :) Saw 1 or 2 tunes with Brandon and 2 tunes with Glasvegas and half of Coldplays show, so thats not bad at all.

Regarding on this weekend's exploits at Ullevi, that I take in the coming week. That will include the gig on friday with Iron Maiden and tonights show with the Big 4, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax.

One of the performers on the WTAI festival was Brandon Flowers, who is an American musician, best known as the frontman of the Las Vegas-based rock band The Killers. He has also released a solo album entitled Flamingo.

Todays tune is "Crossfire” that is the debut solo single from his solo album ”Flamingo". Written by Flowers himself, and produced by Brendan O'Brien.

Here is one photo from Brandons gig at WTAI taken by Magnus Sunderberg.
