Michael Monroe - Trick Of The Wrist

The Finnish national treasure Michael Monroe in a sense paved the way for both Mötley Crue as Guns N 'Roses. Harvested a great success with his band Hanoi Rocks in the 80's. Now he goes solo with his new band featuring Sam Yaffa (Hanoi Rocks, Demolition 23 & New York Dolls) on bass, guitarist Steve Conte (New York Dolls), drummer Karl Rosqvist (Steel Prophet, Danzig) and the latest recruiting guitarist Dregen (Backyard Babies, Hellacopters), who replaces Ginger, frontman of British band The Wildhearts, who appeared with Monroe for the last time in Provinssirock in June. Dregen's first concert with Monroe was is June 26 at Fishing Harbour in Helsinki when Michael Monroe open for Foo Fighters.

Unlike other members of Hanoi Rocks' in the 1980s, Monroe was never a big drug user or a big drinker although in his book "All Those Wasted Years" Monroe tells about being addicted for a short while to Amphetamine in the 1980s. This appears indeed for this 49 year old chap is in an excellent shape.

With his sixth studio album "Sensory Overdrive" in their luggage did they visited Debaser Medis, Stockholm last night.

That it was a very pleasant evening can surely most people who were there testify about. Something that was difficult during this evening was to pinpoint an average age; for it was really spread out from 18 to 60:) The Swedish relics Nomands opens up and creates a fine atmosphere inside the room with his straight rock, would think that many arrived there under Nomands flag and got Monroe as a bonus.

Michael Monroe's band got a lot of attention, it photographed and conducts interviews, largely due to Dregen connect with his teenage hero. That this little Sly dog is everywhere, is a mystery to me, later in addition to merge their bags with one of his idols, he has been developing its own favorite bag of Candy, or rather pimped an existing product to attract the younger candy-eating public. Polly, manufactured by Cloetta, now comes in a new flavor - licorice, lemon and chocolate in a bag designed by Dregen. He is a really nice guy, he almost always comes up and talk about this and that, we talked for a couple of occasions, one was about the classic band "Secret Service" and their achievements back in time ...you might remember the tunes, Oh Susie! and Flash In The Night :) It is great that is going so well for him, "you're going strike while the iron is hot, someone said”.

How does Dregen fit in the band then? Oh yes, like to be cut out for the job, he lift up the band lots, even the other guitarist Steve Conte ends up in the shade when all the focus lands on Swede and Monroe are enjoying every bit of it now that he has found a irascible equal. Dregen was incredibly enthusiastic about the gig that he kicked wildly around in the air as if he was attacked by a swarm of angry bees. Romp as a small mischievous schoolboy and headbanging so sweat chafed over the audience, in other words, he gave everything.

The bottom line is that this is probably the best setup Monroe had sofar and they really delivered a great gig. Do you have the chance to see them during their tour, so do it.

Crashdiet - Native Nature

Crashdïet is a band (sleaze rock) from Stockholm, which was founded in 2000 by Roberto David Hellman. On Tuesday, did these gentlemens opened up for Ozzy Osbourne at a sold-out Globe Arena. Opening up to the prince of darkness, must surely be a boy's dream fulfilled.

Crashdiet got it a bit tough this evening, a lot of what they wanted to do during their set was refused, so they had to be pleased with offer that the production gave them. For example, Simon wanted to run up with his motorcycle on stage, you know, do a Rob Halford, would have been fun to see but it is understandable that it is not allowed. However, they could been able to get a bit more light.

Gig itself was ok, the boys drove to the reputation and now i can see and hear that it is becoming well-oiled the machinery, the guys are tight and it swings a lot of their sleaze rock. This set was well practiced  keep the time table (30 minutes), Crashdïet set clocked in at 29 minutes and 20 sec.

They opened up with "Breakin the Chain" and ended with 'Wild Generation', see the set list down to. Crash Diet plays tonight at the Close-Up 'boat.

Casablanca - Downtown

Casablanca is a Swedish glam rock band that consists of Drummer Josephine Forsman (Sahara Hotnights), Guitarist Erik Stenemo (Melody Club); Singer Anders Ljung (Space Age Baby Jane); Guitarist Ryan Roxie, (Roxie 77, Alice Cooper) and the bass player Mats Rubarth (AIK - Swedish football league).

For almost two years the band has been rehearsing and writing songs in secret. They have been recording with personalities such as Kleerup (who has co-written songs on the album) as well as current producer Chris Laney.

This band is only be labeled 'Classic Rock' in the sense that loud guitars drive the songs, hypnotic and melodic choruses remain in your head, and the steady beat of a powerful rhythm section beckons your body to move, shimmy, and shake.

Todays tune "Downtown" is the first single from Casablanca.

Hardcore Superstar - Into Debauchery

Hardcore Superstar is a sleaze rock band from Gothenburg, Sweden. The band was formed in 1997 and continue on today. Hardcore Superstar will open up for AC/DC tonight at the Stadion, a nice task for these guys witch they likely will do very well.

Todays tune "Into Debauchery" is the latest video from the seventh studio album "Beg For It" that was released exactly one year ago in Sweden (3rd of June 2009). Enjoy todays tune and keep the fist in the air tonight!

Backyard Babies - Abandon

This Awesome band comes from Sweden (of course)
and the were formed 1987.
Their first name was Tyrant.

The Members are as folllowing:
Nicke Borg on vocals and guitar

Dregen on lead guitar and backing vocals

Johan Blomqvist on bass

Peder Carlsson on drums


Dregen Is a great painter as well.
and Peder loves to take photo´s.
Nicke wants to write music to a film sometime.
Johan I dont really know, but he is welcome to tell me :)

The album was released on August 13, 2008,
and debuted on the UK rock chart at number 29.

Ratt - Best Of Me

LA's legendary rockers Ratt have returned with their first offering in ten years, Infestation, set for an April 20th release. Ratt is an American glam metal band that formed in San Diego and enjoyed significant commercial success in the 1980s. The band is most notable for their songs "Round and Round," "Wanted Man," "Lay It Down," "You're in Love", "Way Cool Jr." and "Back For More."

Ratt have enjoyed a rich, impressive and certainly long-lasting legacy through the years, having made their mark in the 1980s with 5 consecutive multi-platinum albums, including “Out of the Cellar”, “Invasion of Your Privacy” and “Dancing Undercover”. With 1984’s mega-platinum debut “Out of the Cellar” celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Ratt will embark on a world tour in 2010. Warrant - Heaven

Warrant is an American glam metal band from Hollywood, California that experienced success in the late 1980s and early 1990s with two multi-platinum albums. Todays tune "Heaven" is a old school power ballad, it was released in 1989 as the second single from Warrant's debut album Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich. The song was Warrant's most successful single, reaching #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #3 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, and spawned a popular video starring top Scottish model, Tracy Allan.



The song "Heaven" was re done in 1999 on the Greatest & Latest album The song was used in Tool Academy's series finale.

The Sweet - Set Me Free

The Sweet is a British rock band that rose to prominence as one of the main glam rock acts in the 1970s, with the original line-up consisting of Brian Connolly, Steve Priest, Andy Scott, and Mick Tucker. Today The Sweet has another line up at both Brian and Mick has passed away.
The band include members as

The Sweet is on tour atm and they visit Tyrol for a gig.
Great stopping gig indeed, with a good grove and nice feeling from the old guys.
The tune i liked the most was "Set Me Free" and its also todays tune but the tune is with the orginal setup, enjoy!
