ZOMBIE INC.: Debut Album From Old-School Death Metal Supergroup Arrives
Attention old-school Death Metal fans, zombie/horror culture freaks and general savages... the debut full-length from Austrian deathsquad ZOMBIE INC. has arrived.
ZOMBIE INC. may be a NEW name to the Death Metal scene, but some of the henchmen involved this gory, plodding debauchery will surely raise some interest... namely former Pungent Stench vocalist Martin Schirenc's return to the Death Metal scene! Schirenc's guttural oral thunder is brutally backed by guitars from songwriting mastermind Wolfgang Rothbauer (Disbelief, Eisblut, etc.) and Gerald Huber (Collapse 7), low-end from bassist Daniel Lechner (The Cascades, ex-Lacrimas Profundere) and the percussive onslaught of Tomasz “Nefastus” Janiszewski (Belphegor, Fleshcrawl, Debauchery).
The individual potent collective of talents coalesce on ZOMBIE INC.'s debut, A Dreadful Decease, a gore-obsessed 41-minute stompfest loaded with the instinctive, intuitive and aggressive stylings of the Death Metal of the '90s, bringing names like Entombed, Autopsy, Dismember, Obituary, Deicide, Edge of Sanity and Gorefest to the chopping block. A Dreadful Decease runs rampant with horrific, apocalyptic zombie themes, both lyrically, atmospherically and visually, bearing professional artwork by SeasonZero Design. The album was recorded and mixed by Martin Schirenc at Vato Loco in Austria, and mastered by Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity, Nightingale, Bloodbath) at Unisound in Sweden, who referred to the band as "great music... old-school, the perfect way."
Check out "The Chaosbreed" and "Bloodrain Overdose" via the band's Myspace page now (link below).
'A Dreadful Decease' Track Listing:
1. The Chaosbreed
2. Deadtribe Sinister
3. Challenge Of The Undead
4. Horde Unleashed
5. We Must Eat!
6. Bloodrain Overdose
7. Grim Brutality
8. Horror Fills This Hollow Earth
9. A Dreadful Decease.
10. Planet Zombie
ZOMBIE INC. lineup:
- Martin Schirenc: Vocals (Hollenthon, ex-Pungent Stench)
- Wolfgang Rothbauer: Guitars (Disbelief, Eisblut, In Slumber, Thirdmoon, GodHateCode)
- Gerald Huber: Guitars (Collapse 7)

CANNIBAL CORPSE Premiere NEW Song "Scourge Of Iron"!
Today, Revolvermag.com hosts the exclusive premiere of “Scourge of Iron,” the third track off CANNIBAL CORPSE’s forthcoming slab of brutality, 'Torture', slated for North American release through Metal Blade Records on March 13, 2012.
Comments bassist Alex Webster of the new tune: “‘Scourge of Iron’ helps to show the song writing diversity on Torture. [First album single] ‘Demented Aggression’ is blazing fast and frantic, while ‘Scourge…’ is a down tempo, pounding song. They're both Death Metal, but at opposite ends of the speed spectrum. Expect to hear this kind of variety throughout Torture. We’ve utilized many different tempos, rhythms, and feels in these songs with the goal of making an album that is varied and dynamic but also very brutal. On March 13th you'll get to decide whether or not we succeeded.”
Listen to “Scourge Of Iron” at THIS LOCATION.

Dying Fetus Announce NEW North American Tourdates!
Fresh off their South American tour, DYING FETUS have announced headlining and co-headlining North American tour dates. The tour sponsored by Metal Sucks and Dead End Threads kicks off February 26th and runs through March 14th. The first leg of the tour will see DYING FETUS headlining with support coming from: Job For a Cowboy, Volumes and Last Chance to Reason. The second leg will feature a co-headlining bill with DYING FETUS and The Faceless. Support will come from Goatwhore, Volumes and Last Chance to Reason.
DYING FETUS are currently working on their NEW album, entitled 'Reign Supreme' which is set to be released in mid 2012 through Relapse Records. The album will feature nine tracks and is a "return to roots" with production focused slightly more on slam than in the band's last few works. Thematically, the album is set to be a good old-fashioned piece of social and political commentary in the style of DYING FETUS as we have come to know.
The extreme Death Metallers will also be touring North America this Spring as part of the 'Metal Alliance Tour' with Devildriver, The Faceless, Job For A Cowboy, 3 Inches of Blood, Impending Doom and Wretched. The tour kicks off March 15th in Austin, TX as a part of the SXSW Music Festival and runs through April 21st, circling back to Houston, TX.
The band has also been confirmed for these year's prestigious Maryland Deathfest and France's Hellfest.

Cattle Decapitation Begins Recording NEW Album!
Cattle Decapitation entered Denver, CO's Flatline Audio on January 7th to record the highly anticipated follow-up to their critically-acclaimed album 'The Harvest Floor' (released in 2009 via Metal Blade Records).
Front man Travis Ryan has this to say: "We spent the first two days mapping out tempos and getting things situated, drums mic'd all that stuff. Just started tracking drums today and everything is sounding great! We're excited to start laying down some tones and getting this beast finished and in the hands of our fans and friends."
The band has a small crew filming all steps of the way so fans of the band can look forward to studio video reports via the band's YouTube channel and getting the full album details in the coming weeks when album title, cover image and track listing as well as immediate U.S. and European tour plans are revealed!

CANNIBAL CORPSE To Release NEW Album - Artwork, Track Listing & First Single Revealed!
America's reigning kings of brutality, CANNIBAL CORPSE, will unleash their twelfth studio offering this March via Metal Blade Records. Aptly titled 'Torture', the follow-up to 2009's 'Evisceration Plague' offers up 12 tracks of maniacally precise, soul-searing Death Metal. Torture was again produced by Hate Eternal's Erik Rutan at his own Mana Recording Studio in St. Petersburg, Florida as well as Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas, and features the maniacal cover art by longtime CANNIBAL CORPSE artist, Vincent Locke, viewable below.
While 'Torture' marks the latest progression in the band's sound, it also witnesses a return to what drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz accurately terms "the frenzied attack of 'Butchered At Birth' (1991) or 'Tomb Of The Mutilated' (1992)," infusing the band's advanced musicianship with the raw savagery that haunted their earlier releases, and in the process conceiving the definitive CANNIBAL CORPSE record. Adds bassist Alex Webster on the outcome of the record: "We're extremely happy with how 'Torture' turned out. Erik Rutan did an amazing job with the production, and the songwriting and performances may be our strongest yet. We can't wait until our fans get to hear the whole thing!"
Witness the gutting sounds of "Demented Aggression", the band's first single, as well as studio footage, right here, right now!
Cannibal Corpse "Demented Aggression" by Metal Blade Records
'Torture' Track Listing:
01. Demented Aggression
02. Sarcophagic Frenzy
03. Scourge of Iron
04. Encased in Concrete
05. As Deep As the Knife Will Go
06. Intestinal Crank
07. Followed Home Then Killed
08. The Strangulation Chair
09. Caged…Contorted
10. Crucifier Avenged
11. Rabid
12. Torn Through
As a precursor to the release, CANNIBAL CORPSE will perform a special one-off show at the Culture Room in West Palm Beach, Florida on January 22nd then head to the seas to take part in this year's edition of the '70,000 Tons Of Metal' Cruise. The band will get a short break before a near month-long march through Europe on the 'Full Of Hate' 2012 tour with labelmates Behemoth.
'Torture' will be released in North America on March 13, 2012.

Suffocation To Release NEW Album - Update Available!
Last summer, we had the chance to speak with Suffocation's own Mike Smith (drummer) about the future of the band. During the interview he told us that Suffocation was taking their time before releasing a NEW album, since they felt that it was time for them to step back and find the proper opportunities in order for their career to reach a whole new level. At the time he also said that they will be releasing a new DVD titled "Legacy of Violence" soon.
Well, we have good news! The extreme Metallers have announced that are hard at work on their seventh studio album, which is slated for a summer release via Nuclear Blast Records. Here is what bassist Derek Boyer had to say about this in the February issue of Decibel Magazine:
"We're in the pre-production stage [and are] currently working on final arrangements, lyrical placement and content. "Each album is an evolution process. As always, we take the key elements that are Suffocation, add current feelings and outside influences, then begin collaborating. We're very happy with the direction we're headed!"
Suffocation's Discography:
- Effigy of the Forgotten (1991)
- Breeding the Spawn (1993)
- Pierced from Within (1995)
- Souls to Deny (2004)
- Suffocation (2006)
- Blood Oath (2009)
- Untitled (2012)

Asphyx Debut First Single Of Their NEW Album 'Deathhammer' & Reveal Track-listing!
On February 27th in Europe and February 28th in North America, Dutch Doom-Death Metal legends Asphyx will be releasing their 8th studio album entitled 'Deathhammer', via Century Media Records! In anticipation of this release, the band is now giving fans their first preview of 'Deathhammer' with the premiere of the album's title track on CVLT Nation.com (see the link below).
In regards to this new, merciless track, the band comments:
"To us this song is 100% real Death Metal! It's heavy, aggressive and it simply can't get more in your face than this. This song is composed by just a few shredding riffs which stick in your brain like a buzz-saw, vocals so angry that it could be a declaration of war, relentlessly pounding drums and a bass that roars like a tank. We are very proud of this song since it shows our view on real Death Metal: how we've always seen it, how we feel it and how we want it to be! Martin already roared a clear statement in the very beginning of this song: THIS IS TRUE DEATH METAL, YOU BASTARDS! And so it is!" - ASPHYX
Featuring artwork by the band's long-time partner in designs, Axel Hermann, Deathhammer was recorded at The Mörser Studio as well as at Harrow Studio with their long-time engineer Harry Wijering, and was mixed and mastered in Sweden by Dan Swanö, who previously worked with the band on 'Death...The Brutal Way' as well as on the 'Live Death Doom' release.
ASPHYX - Deathhammer track-listing:
1. Into The Timewastes
2. Deathhammer
3. Minefield
4. Of Days When Blades Turned Blunt
5. Der Landser
6. Reign Of The Brute
7. The Flood
8. We Doom You To Death
9. Vespa Crabro
10. As The Magma Mammoth Rises
Prior to 'Deathhammer's' release, Asphyx will perform a very special concert at this year's 'Eindhoven Metal Meeting' on December 16th, at the Effenaar club in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, where the band will be playing 'The Rack' album in its entirety for the 20th anniversary of its release. Guitarist Danny Tunker Discusses God Dethroned's Three Last Shows Ever!
"God Dethroned, the final year. 2011. When the decision was made to do it this way Michiel, Henk and I supported Henri's decision, of course, but it would be a lie to say we were happy about it. His reasons for doing it are -of course- his own and he looks to other horizons after playing with God Dethroned for 20+ years. He is building his own guitars, speakers and amps and going for that with the same intensity as he has played with God Dethroned for all those years.
"Originally, we would only do about 4 gigs as a 'farewell tour', though offers came in all the time. We did book some extra shows, in places like Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and Leewarden, Holland. Eindhoven Metal Meeting was going to be the final one (on December, 17th) and we have honored that commitment for all offers that came, safe one, which was just too good to turn down. I'm referring to 70,000 tons of Metal of course. Any band would love to play that cruise. Play two shows on a cruise-ship with some of your favorite bands and 2000 fans? Forget it! So December, 17th is going to be the final show for God Dethroned on solid ground. The other 2 shows will be on a ship in the ocean.
"The other shows we did this year were Summer Breeze 2011, which was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had with this band and Motocultor in France the day after. Hanging out with Tyr and Moonsorrow on a nightliner and party? Check. Can't believe that was in August already.
"And now, it's December. And we only have 3 more shows to go. First is the Eindhoven Metal Meeting. Then Christmas, New Year and a cruise. Can't believe this will be the end of it, but it sure has been fun. It probably won't hit me for some time, but once we play the final notes for 'Under The Sign Of The Iron Cross' in Eindhoven and somewhere on the Atlantic, it probably will.
"Thanks to the fans, bands, bookers and the lovely people at Metal Blade for all the support! Hope you all come out one last time to party with us."

Tribute to Charles Michael "Chuck" Schuldiner!
Today marks the tenth year anniversary of the passing of a true legend: Charles Michael "Chuck" Schuldiner (May 13, 1967 – December 13, 2001). Chuck was the founder of one of the most renowned and influential bands in Heavy Metal history: DEATH.
Schuldiner was the singer, main songwriter, rhythm and lead guitarist of Death (founded in 1983). Due to his influence and talent, he is worthily known as "The Father of Death Metal." Known for his modesty and kindness, Chuck often denounced the flattering attention he received for his accomplishments. "I don’t think I should take the credits for this Death Metal stuff. I am just a guy from a band, and I think Death is a Metal band.”

In 1987, Schuldiner released the first Death album, which he titled “Scream Bloody Gore”. A year later he released “Leprosy”, and in February of 1990 he released the critically acclaimed “Spiritual Healing”. One of the key moves Chuck made in order to get Death to the next level, was to recruit fellow legend and guitarist James Murphy.

The turning point for Death was when they released their breakthrough album “Human”. On this album Chuck explored more technical and progressive abilities, which eventually became Death’s signature sound. This musical progression and perfection continued on 1993's “Individual Thought Patterns”, 1995's “Symbolic”, and “The Sound of Perseverance”, which was released in 1998. Over time, Death underwent many lineup changes, which opened the doors for various musicians who are now considered Heavy Metal all-stars. A few of these all-stars who contributed to Death’s legacy include: Gene Hoglan, Richard Christy, Sean Reinert, Paul Masvidal, and Steve DiGiorgio. With these accomplishments, Death warranted their perpetual legendary status throughout the Metal world, which still stands strong today.
Throughout his career, Schuldiner was never afraid to take on controversial issues and uphold his own personal views. On the album “Spiritual Healing”, he divulged his anti-drug values through his lyrics for "Living Monstrosity" and even raged against abortion on the track "Altering the Future.” He was also known to speak openly against “satanic” themes, which have always been part of Death Metal. He disputed in opposition to stereotypes and classifications that portrayed Metal-heads to be harmful to animals and people, or to be purveyors of death and malevolence. He strongly opposed artists who were "out of control", and attracted negative attention to the Death Metal scene. Chuck was a role model to the fans, and also to the bands he had the chance to influence through his music and viewpoints.
After further evolvement of his musical endeavors and styles, Chuck decided to retire the Death name, and formed a new band called Control Denied. In 1999, they released “The Fragile Art of Existence”.
Around May of 1999, Chuck had been experiencing pain in his upper neck. After being sent for an MRI exam, he was sadly diagnosed with life threatening pontine glioma, a malignant type of brain cancer that attacks the brain stem. He was immediately sent to undergo radiation therapy. In October 1999, Chuck’s family announced that the tumor had necrotized. Then in January 2000, chuck underwent a surgical procedure in order to remove the rest of the tumor. The operation was a success, and Chuck continued his work with Control Denied.

In May 2001 (two years after his initial diagnosis), the cancer returned. This time, due to a financial debt he was not able to receive the immediate surgery that his condition required; to make matters worse his medical insurance denied the coverage of the treatment. Many influential figures of the music industry, as well as a strong alliance of dedicated fans, gathered in support of Chuck’s impact to the music world, and rallied to raise funds to benefit his demanding medical needs. Still unable to acquire the necessary surgical procedure that would possibly save his life, he underwent chemotherapy. The harsh side effects of this treatment immensely weakened Chuck, and took a severe toll on his ability to continue with his music. In late October, Chuck’s frail body fell ill to pneumonia. On December 13th, 2001, at approximately 4 PM (Eastern), Chuck tragically died at the young age of 34.
Today, 9 years after the passing of a true Heavy Metal icon, Chuck’s memory continues to thrive through the influence of his music and the admiration of his ability to always stay true to his beliefs. Chuck is truly a pioneer of Metal, and a hero for all who he has affected with his accomplishments, attitude, and morale. "I would like to live forever, if it was possible", he once said in an interview. Little did he know at the time, that with the significant and historical impact he left on the Metal community, he surely would.
