Opeth & Mastodon Announce Tourdates For Co-Headlining "Heritage Hunter Tour", Ghost to Support!
This is one tour that Rock fans will be talking about for years to come and if you miss it, you'll be terribly sorry. Opeth and Mastodon will be embarking on a co-headline tour this spring, which kicks off April 4 in Portland, Maine and runs through May 12 in Atlanta, Georgia. It's the first time these two titans of progressive and forward-thinking hard Rock have hit the road together and it's going to be one for the ages. Ghost will serve as the opener of the tour, which has been christened the "Heritage Hunter."
About the tour, Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt, in his trademark deadpan wit, stated, "We're touring North America together with Mastodon soon. Nice! One of the very few Metal bands of today that I genuinely like. Good people too! Ghost are coming with us as well, and they are one of the hottest NEW bands to come out of Sweden in recent years, and I dig them too. I sound like an old fart, don't I? Well, I am.”
He continued, "Yet, am I right in thinking that this tour, this line up, is pretty decent? Would you all agree? Not complete s---, is it? Hope to see y'all out there! What are we playing? Not sure yet, but considering the company, maybe we'll have to pull out the big guns from time to time. In order to keep up, I mean."
Opeth released 'Heritage' in September 2011, garnering critical acclaim from Rolling Stone ("a career record that reimagines prog as actual Rock N' Roll"), Pitchfork ("a pretty, well thought out collection"), AV Club ("wholly absorbing"), Decibel (which featured the band on the cover, in somewhat of a tradition for the band and the magazine), PopMatters ("Opeth still continues to make especially phenomenal music") and more.

Mastodon Confirms North American Tour With Opeth & Ghost!
Last week, we reported that there was a rumor going around that Mastodon, Opeth and Ghost might be teaming up for a U.S. tour in April. Today, we are stoked to inform you that Troy Sanders (Vocalist/Bassist of Mastodon) has confirmed that this historical tour will happen! When asked about Mastodon's plans for the immediate future, Sanders said, "We go to Australia take part in the Soundwave Festival, which is going to be lovely… Take a short break. Do a North American tour with Opeth and Ghost. And then take another break and come back over here for the European festival season."
As we previously mentioned, this tour makes total sense! Why? Well, Mastodon and Opeth are considered two of the most important bands within Progressive Metal, while Ghost has been picking a lot of steam lately and a tour with Mastodon and Opeth would get them in front of thousands of fans that haven't been able to experience this amazing Swedish melodic Metal band out.
Additionally, Mastodon and Opeth released NEW albums last year around the same time in September of last year, so they are both within a similar tour cycle since they need to promote the hell out of their NEW relases.
Stay tuned for more information!

Meshuggah Reveal NEW Album Cover & Track Listing For 'KOLOSS'!
Over the weekend, the Kings of Swedish Metal, Meshuggah, revealed the title of their seventh studio album: 'KOLOSS' (set to be released on March 27th via Nuclear Blast Records). Today, the band has revealed their NEW album cover and track listing (see below).
Tomas Haake, drummer of Meshuggah, has released the following update regarding the name of their seventh studio album:
“As always, we try to take our music in a slightly different direction with each album and with 'KOLOSS' we feel that we really nailed what we were going for. Organic brutality, viscera and groove all crammed into a 54-minute Metalicious treat, best avoided by the faint of heart!!”
Regarding the production of 'KOLOSS', this is what the band had to say about this:
"After a long time of deep soul searching and intense wrecking of the psyches, the new album is finally done. Soon you will meet this colossus that will pulverize your being. Welcome to the other side on March 27."
To this Meshuggah's shredder Fredrik Thordendal added:
"Yes, we are working on a new album and have been for a long time. I'm so excited about this one. We've always tried to change how we write songs to keep it exciting, but on recent albums we've also been moving further away from working together as a band. On this album, though, everyone is working together. Every day that we're in the studio, we'll play whatever song we're working on, record a demo version of it to analyze at home, and then come back the next day, talk about it and try to make it better. I think because of this, it's going to be our best album yet."
Track listing for Meshuggah's 'KOLOSS':
01. I Am Colossus
02. The Demon's Name Is Surveillance
03. Do Not Look Down
04. Behind The Sun
05. The Hurt That Finds You First
06. Marrow
07. Break Those Bones Whose Sinews Gave It Motion
08. Swarm
09. Demiurge
10. The Last Vigil

Every day that we're in the studio, we'll play whatever song we're working on, record a demo version of it to analyze at home, and then come back the next day, talk about it and try to make it better. I think because of this, it's going to be our best album yet."

Mastodon, Opeth & Ghost To Tour Together?
During the last few days, there has been a rumor going around that Mastodon, Opeth and Ghost might be teaming up for a U.S. tour in April. While we can't confirm this news yet, we think its a pretty obvious tour.

VILDHJARTA's 'måsstaden'' #1 Album of 2011 According to Got-Djent.com
Swedish djentlemen VILDHJARTA recently released their full-length debut, 'måsstaden', to critics' delight, winning over skeptics with their sheer heaviness and structured, progressive chaos. For their efforts, the band has now also earned the coveted title of #1 album of 2011 on Got-Djent.com! This is what they had to say about this epic Metallic release.
Medieval. If I were allowed to choose only one word to describe 'Måsstaden', Vildhjarta's debut full-length release, then it would be this. The utter darkness and despair that this album manages to conjure up, along with moments of shimmering beauty and a sense of timelessness, is truly magical. The direct yet hugely challenging guitar work, hauntingly dissonant and wielding terrifying power, is layered thickly yet somehow gives the illusion of having spades of room in which to work. The ambiences are stunning, and the perfectly distorted vocal duo Daniel Ädel and Vilhelm Bladin give huge weight and direction. The storytelling, through both words and music, to me is on a level with the writing of Shakespeare, Tolkien and the Greek mythological storytellers, whose works clearly influence it greatly. As a musical journey, it is comparable in style and magnitude to a symphony that Mahler, Sibelius or Shostakovich may have written.
Upon listening to this release, you will descend into a narcotic tale of evil intent and impending doom, epitomised throughout in the lyrics and music combined. This album leaves a trail of destruction in its wake, conveyed in brutal manner by the bone-crushing riffery and hellish abuse of melody by the impossible guitar lines, a kind of which I have heard nothing like before: such is the magnitude of the albums production that, when the low notes fall, you physically shudder as their gravity crushes your insignificant mind. One of the central concepts is perpetual impurity and the presence of evil within all things; this goes hand in hand with the other underlying themes, namely religion, apocalypse and the negative effects of globalisation. However, the story within this album is far from clear-cut: reality is very unclear throughout, giving a listener a lot of creative space in which to conjure up his own sequence of events, something all good concept albums, such as Uneven Structure’s 'Februus' and Meshuggah’s 'Catch Thirtythree', create within the plot.
So, is Måsstaden something that will change music for all who encounter it, even sceptics? The words speak for themselves on this: “I defy the curse and then define a new set of rules.” This album will be revered for decades to come. - Zyglrob
Vildhjarta - Måsstaden: a vast progression from 'Omnislash', far and away the heaviest record of 2011 and a twisted yet perfect narrative which captures something of the trials of existence in under an hour. Just fucking listen to it.
måsstaden is available on iTunes here for $9.99 with two exclusive bonus tracks ("All for the Sake", "Of Others"), so download your copy today!

The Kings of Swedish Metal, Meshuggah, have released the following update regarding their seventh studio album:
"After a long time of deep soul searching and intense wrecking of the psyches, the new album is finally done. Soon you will meet this colossus that will pulverize your being. Welcome to the other side on March 27."
To this Meshuggah's shredder Fredrik Thordendal added:
"Yes, we are working on a new album and have been for a long time. I'm so excited about this one. We've always tried to change how we write songs to keep it exciting, but on recent albums we've also been moving further away from working together as a band.
