Nachtmystium - Nightfall

Today I got a bit inspired to listen to a "Skull", what skull, you say, yes it is so that there is a blog, where an amazing artist "Slusk" who paints a "skull" of the week, and this week he has been extra good and painted three skulls.

The first skull is one of the band "Death In June" uses.

The second is from Agoraphobic Nosebleeds EP "A Clockwork Sodom."

The third skull is from Nachtmysiums Assassins: Black Meddle, Part 1, which also is a band that we pick today's tune.

Nachtmystium is an American psychedelic black metal band formed by Blake Judd, formerly known as Azentrius, and Pat McCormick. The band's name is derived from the German word Nacht meaning "night", and the made-up term mystium which resembles the Latin adjective mysticum. Judd and McCormick combined the words to create the band's name, which they state means "Encompassing Darkness."

Todays tune "Nightfall" is taken from the fifth full-length album "Addicts: Black Meddle, Pt. II"  It was released on June 8, 2010.

Todays clip is Live in Englewood, CO - Feb. 18th, 2011

A little story:

At the Georgia Scion Rock Fest on Saturday February 28, 2009, Nachtmystium was forced to cancel at the request of the festival's promoters, and sponsors, Toyota, on Tuesday February 23, 2008 due to an unnamed source, who believed the group was a "Nazi" band. Judd promptly released a statement after the incident, stating, "We will be taking legal action against the people who slandered us in this situation, and in the future will file defamation / slander charges against any person or organization who attempts to prevent us from performing anywhere, especially in the United States. So - let it be known loud and clear for the LAST TIME, we ARE NOT a Nazi band, ARE NOT political, are certainly NOT racists and DO NOT support that world or any band, person or business affiliated with it." He also apologized to Nachtmystium fans who traveled to the concert to support the band.

Lizette & - Reduced

Our Favvo band is going to release an album in February and today they released their second single, called "Reduced" with a sorta anxious message. DAAAMN its goood :D

I called Lizette up as she is a friend of mine, to share some with ya all.

Lizette Von Panajott interview

TOTD: Heeeey Lizette, This was a quite dark kinda video, I havent listen to the lyrics yet but what is it all about? I mean u are the most positive, happy person I know.

Lizette: Its about how u begin to lie and then lie a bit more and soon ure shut in a corner feel totally shitty and then sooner or later it all fucks up, and the only thing u did was lie. And that was a bit stupid u know, just that one can consider to be more honest. I really put down a thought behind the lyrics I write, think its important.

Lizette: I want to have a dialogue with people, to get their viewpoint on the matter and mayby they can think more about life and its turns.

TOTD: So when is this album coming, we are eager here!

Lizette: Talks with the manager and says, on the 22 of February.

TOTD: Ure last album was a bit softer than this album, what Ive heard its more tough and heavier. So how is the rest of “Just Smile”?

Lizette: This is a very straight forward/In ure face kinda album and harder than “This is”. Although the tune “Just Smile” is a ballad , but overall its a much harder album. I have very much variaty on the albums, I like that. This album is so damn good, and Im just soo damn proud of it. Then she laugh.

TOTD: Who writes the tunes?

Lizette: I am, then I present it to the guys and then they play it and sometimes they have some inputs on it sometimes not, if I like it , it’s a go.
If it interfer to much with my original thought, I ditch it (laughs)

TOTD: Did u write all the tunes on this album?

Lizette: All of em, except 2, “Have A Cigar” I wrote that with Dan Reed (from Dan Reed Project) and the cover “Head Like A Hole” Nine Inch Nails wrote that. I really like NIN.

TOTD: 2 (The guitarrist, “Ink” and guitar and keyboardist Markus) guys are new since “This Is” album, tell me about them.

Lizette: They stepped into these big shoes and are doing an awesome job. The thing is that we have so damn fun together!

TOTD: Okey Lizette, thank you for this! Anything u care to say to our readers?

Lizette: Yea, the "Reduced" single is on Itunes, buy it ! Looove you!!!!
And then we ended off ☺

This is the link to Itunes and their new single "Reduced"

Here are some pics that Stones took last year on em.

Lizette & - Worst Fuck

Lizette & has a show coming up tomorrow 5 of June, 20:00 @ Göta Källare in Stockholm, Sweden. This is something you def cant miss, if u like industrial rock and all in between.

Lizette & is:
Lizette Von Panajott on Vocals and producer.
Tomas on Bas
Alex on Drums
Ink on Guitar
Marcus on Guitar and Keyboard

Awesome guys all of em!!

Lizette started singing in a studio that was all into POP, let me clarify that - POP! The extremely cool people working in this studio thought that Enya made "really deep and weird music".

This is all fine, but Lizette's music always sounded MUCH "weirder" than Enya ever did. She thought that there would not be an audience for what she did - so why do it... except for the fact that it was so fulfilling and enjoyable.
About 1 year later she got introduced to NIN, the album "Downward spiral". Hearing what he did on that album and the fact that he had an extremely large audience who really needed and loved his music - Lizette got to work for real and started to produce the album "This is". Learning more about all the technical aspects that are needed for a full blown album production as she went along.

So - here U have it - done with a lot of love - angry, beautiful and horrifying music made to create an impact. To reach the soul of her listeners and explore new worlds.

Lizette - creating her music at nighttime U almost feel the chill of the wind outside her window and sense the moonlight in the room as she composes and sings. Let her touch Ur inner core and accept the message she delivers forcefully with her art.

We have had many videos here on Lizette so now i just have one left.
I wanted to have the tune "Crush U" but i couldnt find any embed thingie ah well.
This tune is quite funny so I guess I show u :D

I will go at the gig, although I will be a bit late as im doing a gig at the Globe but Ill run and see this fantastic band and Lady, she is a awesome woman and friend!

Cheers, Thetania

Mass Murder Agenda - Never Again

A friend of mine, Tristan have a band and I heard some of their tunes
on myspace. I liked it a lot and now they did a video!!

So I thought Ill share it with u.

This is how they describe themselfs.

"Mass Murder Agenda was born in the late summer of 2009 by Bass player
Joakim Hedestedt (Face Down, Nation Beyond, ex-Construcdead).
The Idea was to mix thrash with industrial metal with no intention at all of
being original, just aggressive enough to play live. After written four bone crushing songs came the hard task to find the right band.

For the vocal parts Joakim chose his long time friend Tristan Agdler (ex-NIL) for his perfect mix of hard and melodic voice.

For programming and technical issues the hard burden fell on Henrik Blomqvist
(ex-Face Down), a choice that shown to be over all expectations.

When it came to drums there were only one name, Christoffer Barkensjö (Construcdead, Face Down and Kaamos) beside the fact of friendship Chris is by far one of the best metal drummers out there.

After trying a few guitarists an old friend gave tips of her boy friend Martin Sundberg (ex-Sexy Death), he was looking for a way into the more aggressive metal scene. Needless to say this was the best choice ever, besides being a very good friend, Martin brings the right heaviness and also the skills to program the right industrial sound.

Up to today we have spent the last months rehearsing and writing,
I hope you like what you hear...best described as "Industrial Hardcore".
Video is made by Gunnar Moe Petersen"

Folks, Here is Mass Murder Agenda with Never Again.

Engel - Six Feet Deep

This year's darkest months beginning on WeRock with lots of reading candy! Reviews of including the albums of Conspiracy Theory, Engel, Crystal Caravan, Stonewall Noise Orchestra, Samael and Hail Of Bullets among others. From my own pen, I write about Alter Bridge, Monster Magnet and Ross The Boss.

In addition, the two pure fresh live reviews were WeRocks writer BiblioteKarin reviewing Deftones gig in Stockholm and in a double review communicates Martin and Fredrik their impressions from two of nature quite different concerts with Job For A Cowboy in Malmö and Gothenburg.

BiblioteKarin like Engel's new album and says in a short "This is a fun album" read about it here.

Engel is a melodic death metal band with alternative influences from Gothenburg, Sweden. The band has shared the stage with such acts as Still Remains and toured Europe with Amon Amarth and Dimmu Borgir. They were also part of Paradise Lost's "Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us" -tour, along with such names as Katatonia and Samael.

Former bassplayer Michael Håkansson left the band on 14 August 2008 to pursue his other dreams in life. His duty as bassplayer was taken over during November 2008 by Steve Drennan, who has played as a tour-bassist for Amon Amarth. During 2010, the band replaced their drummer, Daniel “Mojjo” Moilanen with Jimmy Olausson, who also plays drums for Marionette. The members of the band are also known for their other bands in the past, such as In Flames, The Crown, The Haunted and Gardenian. Niclas Engelin has worked with In Flames in later days as well, as a tour guitarist.

Magnus "Mangan" Klavborn - Vocals
Niclas Engelin - Guitar
Marcus Sunesson - Guitar
Steve Drennan - Bass guitar
Jimmy Olausson - Drums

Todays tune "Six Feet Deep" is taken from the latest and second album called "Threnody". The band's split with label SPV GmbH which delayed the European Release of this album.

Raubtier - Världsherravälde

A new month has started and as always in the beginning of a month the latest record reviews will be released at WeRock. This month WeRock have gone thru bands like Dimmu Borgir, Raubtier, The Agonist, Sahg, Melechesh, Volbeat, Circle II Circle among others. I have Personally put my ears and thoughts of a stack of discs in a rowing from 70s rock to metal and there in between visited both Norway and Poland. Check them out at WeRock.

Although I have cast an ear on this CD, which I think is really exciting. I do have a principle to the reviews and that is when there is a close relationship or a friend who plays in a band, i feel like our friendship has a tendency to raise the so-called grade, so I avoid writing a full extended review of an album if that's the case. But sure, around here i can always share some. Enough jiddrish and back on track.

Today I intend to offer you a friendly bunch from Haparanda, which also was praised by a colleague Ida Frisell on WeRock, read her review here (in Swedish). Raubtier (German: predator) is a Swedish industrial metal band from Haparanda. On september 22 the band released their second album: Skriet från Vildmarken (Call of the Wild)

Raubtier will support Sabaton's up coming "World War Tour" and tomorrow will these fellows visit Stockholm and Harry B James for a Signing Session at 20.00, so if you are around, be there :) It was a while ago I ran into these guys, last was probably the "Sonisphere" so I think I will swing by them tomorrow and say hello if nothing else happens.

Pain (feat. Anette Olzon "Nightwish") - Follow Me

Pain have a gig tonight at Gröna Lund, Stockholm Sweden.
I will miss it as I dont have a baby sitter and Stones is not yet home from Gothenburgh and Way Out West. They are tearing it down as we speak.
Ah well I manage to live through :)

Pain is a soloproject by Peter Tägtgren (also in the death metal band Hypocrisy), Pain is mainly playing instumental. Tägtgren is the only stable in this project he plays almost all instruments on the albums although he have various guests in his live gigs.

Pain produced 6 albums, and I took this tune from their latest "Cynic Paradise".

Peter says: MUSIC IS everything to me. I’ve been through two divorces and a whole world of shit because of music but still it is the most important thing in the world to me. I’d rather have music than anything else.”

So speaks 36-year-old Peter Tägtgren, musician, producer and creative brain behind Pain. His has been a life immersed in music, in pushing boundaries, and taking ideas to both their logical and illogical extremes. It’s been a career that has involved fronting bands – notably Hypocrisy, and now Pain – or shaping their sounds – as he has done with Celtic Frost, Children Of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir and Immortal, among others. It’s a calling that has made him one of Sweden’s most respected musicians and producers. But, with Pain’s new album ‘Psalms Of Extinction’, he now wants to take things one step further. Now, in his own words, he’s ready to make his band Pain, “the biggest fucking band in the genre. I want this to be huge on a worldwide scale.”

Rock on Folks, Thetania

Skinny Puppy - Haze

Skinny Puppy is a Canadian industrial band, formed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in 1982. The group is widely considered to be the founders of the electro-industrial subgenre.
Initially envisioned as an experimental side project by cEvin Key while he was in the new wave band Images In Vogue, Skinny Puppy evolved into a full-time project with the addition of vocalist Nivek Ogre. Over the course of a dozen studio albums and many live tours, Key and Ogre have been the only constant members.

Skinny Puppys sounds are fusing elements of ambient, noise, new wave, electro and rock music and making innovative use of sampling. Over the course of several tours of North America and Europe in this period, they became known for theatrical, horror-themed live performances and videos, drawing attention to issues such as animal testing and chemical warfare.

Last night Skinny Puppys tour landed in Sweden for a show. It was a really interesting evening, as i have never seen this act before as far as i can recall...hehe you never know...they might have attend at a festival before where i have been. Anyway, this evening was very cool, their lightning show was very cool, they used only projectors all over the stage, nice, not any Par cans or moving lights here. The show was as i could imagine based on horror, alot of blood and very spooky, suit the musical show very good. Nivek Ogre is a great performer.

Todays tune "Haze" is taken from the tenth studio album "Mythmaker" 2007. Enjoy!

Raubtier - Kamphund

Skrikhult had a gig at Klubben "Bandit All Ages"
It was really..."All Ages"
Klubben went crazy when this band from
Haparanda, Sweden, its really up north.

Saw them once when Stones and I were up there.
Raubtier grew a lot since then, but the same
energic agressive music :)

Saw a lot of people leave after Raubtier finnished.
I asked´them why I mean Plan Three and Corroded
should play, but they just said; Well the best band playd.
A couple were standing and were just leaving, this girl
were really dissapointed cos they didnt sell their
latest album at the selling point.
I heard that and asked her if I could help her.
She smiled with her whole face and said YESSS!!

I went backstage and knocked on their door
and explained her dilemma :)
One of em said yeah matter of fact we do have
3 ex here, I asked them if they could sign
it as well, they said sure.

I realized the singer knew Stones since he had
a record store up there.

Great guys!

Ahwell, here they are in a tune called Kamphund.

Cheers, Thetania
