The Sounds - Song With A Mission

Last night The sounds preformed at Debaser Medis in Stockholm.
It was a very crowded Debaser, perspiration is word that would fit.
The audience were fantastic, they knew every word and jumped like
mad when she started to sing.

I was one of the security guards in the "pit"
and picture me...being very tall,
trying to make myself shorter
and yet have an overview over the crowd...
And then in a sitting position the singer
Maja parted her legs behind me
didnt see it at first...looked at the left and i saw a knee..
Ehhhmm moved a bit...one of the photo shooters took a nice pic of it :)
(forgot to ask for it)
Couple of songs later, there I were and suddenly she wrapped her t-shirt
over my head. Gaaahh.
After I went up with her in the elevator to the dressing rooms,
she apologized for the hoax but she couldnt resist. :D
Its all show :)

The Sounds - No One Sleeps When I'm Awake

The Sounds is a Swedish New Wave band founded in 1999 in Helsingborg.
The group's musical style has been compared to New Wave acts such as Blondie, The Cars, the Epoxies and Missing Persons. Their debut album, Living in America, was released in 2002, with the follow up, Dying to Say This to You, on March 21, 2006. Their third album, Crossing the Rubicon, was released on June 2 2009.

Lead singer Maja Ivarsson is explicit about her ambition, claiming "I want to be the best female vocalist around...of at least this century". She was featured on Cobra Starship's "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)", for the film Snakes on a Plane. In addition to Ivarsson's contribution to the Snakes soundtrack, the entire band is featured as track 6, "Queen of Apology," remixed by Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump. The Sounds is out touring at moment with the their new album opening up for No Doubt in the states, check below for tour dates. The album "Crossing the Rubicon" is full of that catchy, keyboard-driven power pop. The songs are well-polished without being overproduced. Its not their best album but its well worth listen to it.

The Sounds consist of : Maja Ivarsson – Vocals, Felix Rodriguez – Guitar, Johan Bengtsson – Bass, Jesper Anderberg – Keyboards, Piano, Guitar and Fredrik Nilsson – Drums

Todays tune "No One Sleeps When I'm Awake" is the lead single from their third album Crossing the Rubicon. The title was inspired by a quote from Ronnie Woods about Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones. Enjoy!

Imperiet - Märk Hur Vår Skugga

Imperiet were a Swedish 1980s rock band from Stockholm, that existed from 1983 to 1988. They can be argued the most influental band in Sweden for a while, but definitely dominated the new wave scene, which at the time was seen as the same as the punk rock scene.
Imperiet started as Rymdimperiet, a side project to the most popular punk band in Sweden, Ebba Grön, and included three of its members.

Todays tune is taken from Imperiets 4th album "Synd" 1986
But todays tune is from the new release of the album, that was released 1997.
It included the songs "Märk hur vår skugga (Epistel 81)" and "Balladen om briggen Blue Bird av Hull".

"Märk hur vår skugga" is number 81 of Epistles of Fredman by Carl Michael Bellman. It's about one of Bellman's female acquaintances funeral (grälmakar Löfberg's wife).

Many Swedish artists has recorded Märk hur vår skugga, among others Cornelis Vreeswijk, Stefan Sundström, Fred Åkerström and Imperiet. An English translation has been recorded by the Swedish band Candlemass and by the American doom metal band While Heaven Wept, on the album Of Empires Forlorn. English speaking Mediaeval Baebes has recorded the song in Swedish on the album Mirabilis (2005).

Enjoy todays tune!
