Florence + The Machine - What The Water Gave Me

When Florence and the Machine entered the music scene a few years ago, it seems that everyone has fallen in love with the charm and impeccable talent Florence Welch and her debut album "lungs". Me who basically is a so-called rocker fell for her charm, her voice, her hippie style. So it was fun to hear something new from this lady, the song has been spinning for a while but it's time to share, maybe there is someone else who likes it:)

What is surprising is how damn good "What The Water Gave Me" is. The thoughts roll back to the early Cure and Siouxsie and the Banshees when I hear this song. Sneaking in gently and it grows along the way and last minute reaches the climax and that's she goes for it full Pelt.

The new album, which is yet to be titled, will be released on 31 October 2011.

Todays tune "What The Water Gave Me" is the first taste from the upcoming album.

Yeasayer - "Ambling Alp" Secretly Canadian

Yeasayer is a pretty unknown band for me until yesterday,
they had a concert at Debaser, Medis in Stockholm.
I did Tokio Hotel on thursday and Yeasayer yesterday,
at first i was going to do Hotel as The Tune Of The Day...
but..uhm...I choosed Yeasayer :D

This band comes from Brooklyn, New York.
Started up in 2006, so its pretty new.

They play a kinda experimental psychedelic rock, pop
with a lot of synth but in a psychedelic way :)

I really liked the guys, very down to earth
a confident and happy bunch of guys.
They liked beer :)

In 2008, Yeasayer toured with MGMT and
Man Man and supported Beck.
The same year, a public a cappella concert,
"Take Away Show", was performed on the Paris metro.

Yeasayer put a lot of their harmonic tunes in their
voices lots of diffrent tones and they sound
very good as well.
They are three basic
players wich is
Chris Keating on lead vocals, keyboards
Anand Wilder on guitars, keyboards, backing vocals
Ira Wolf Tuton on bass guitar, backing vocals

Sometimes they have additional musicians
with them that can be:
Jason Trammell – drums (Was there)
Ahmed Gallab – timbales, electronic percussion (Not there)
Jerry Marotta – drums, Taos drums, percussion
(Mayby there, a bit unsure but I think so)
Kevin Bewersdorf – piano, synthesizers (Not there)
Stuart Bogie – horns, bass harmonica, Jew's harp
Stuart by the way was also in the band "Tv On The Radio"
that I did last year as a Tune of The Day.
Unfortunally he wasent with Yeasayer last night.
Steven Stetson – horns (Not there)

They are on their way to Oslo as I write.
Then after that,
March 8 at VEGA SMALL HALL in COPENHAGEN, DENMARK
March 9 at KNUST in HAMBURG, GERMANY
March 10 at POSTBAHNHOF in BERLIN, GERMANY
March 11 at 59/1 in MUNICH, GERMANY
March 12 at EXIL in ZURICH, SWITZERLAND
March 15 at TUNNEL in MILAN, ITALY
March 17 at CARACOL in MADRID, SPAIN
March 19 at LE TRABENDO in PARIS, FRANCE
March 20 at PARADISO in AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS
after that they will go back to the US.

This tune comes from their latest album called "Odd Blood"

Sights & Sounds - Reconcile

Sights & Sounds is the newest creation fronted by Andrew Neufeld, which many readers might know from Canadian hardcore act Comeback Kid, other members are drummer Joel Neufeld, bassist Matt Howes, and guitarist Adrian Mottram. This eclectic and experienced group of musicians first came together on New Year’s Eve 2006 and had an instant musical rapport. Sights & Sounds took their energized live show on the road, sharing the stage with many acts including Silverstein, Only Crime, Cancer Bats, Boys Night Out and now lately Billy Talent.

As support act for Billy 2 days ago i must say this was great energy kick of very interesting music, never heard this band before but i did like it allot, very good feeling in the tunes, beautiful experiment in textured sounds and aggressive tones mixed with Andrews vocal, perfect recipe to make the noise sound good.

Their debut full length album "Monolith" from Sights & Sounds was released last year. Produced by Devin Townsend (Darkest Hour, Misery Signals, Bleeding Through).

Todays tune is "Reconcile" from the album "Monolith" Enjoy!

Biffy Clyro - That Golden Rule

Bandit Rock Awards Continued...

Okey now to the final band that preformed on this great show!
Biffy Clyro, a band from Scotland.
I really liked them.

They saw the daylight in 1995 back then the
lead singer and guitarist Simon Neil was 15 only.

They created 5 studio albums, their
latest came out in late 2009, named "Only Revolutions"
The bassist james Johnston said;
"I guess a lot of it is about the revolutions
in life and revolutions in relationships
and those sort of things, just the stuff
everyone goes through at different points in their life"

The band themselves cite influences ranging from
heavy metal luminaries like Metallica to prog legends Rush,
while reviewers are often quick to link their sound to
the likes of Nirvana and
Foo Fighters — particularly in their use
of shifting dynamics which the latter
adapted from Pixies and Fugazi.

The band's sound is characterised by a heavy,
yet melodic, mixture of guitar, bass and drums,
with all three band members contributing to vocals.

The tune I choosed is "That Golden Rule" its the
second single to be taken from their latest album.

Enjoy dear friends!

Thetania

Norah Jones - It's Gonna Be

Norah Jones (born March 30, 1979) is an American singer-songwriter, pianist, keyboardist, guitarist, and actress. She is the daughter of sitarist Ravi Shankar, and the half-sister of Anoushka Shankar. Her career began with her 2002 debut album Come Away with Me, an vocal jazz album with a soul/folk/country tinge, she got a great successes with it. Norah just released her fourth album, The Fall, on November 17, 2009.

Jones' has taken a new direction on the The Fall, experimenting with different sounds and a new set of collaborators, including Jacquire King, a noted producer and engineer who has worked with Kings of Leon, Tom Waits, and Modest Mouse among others. So the new album is more popish than we are used to hear when she is around.
