Dave McClain Talks About "The Eight Plague Tour" & The Evolution Of MACHINE HEAD!

This past Friday (February 3), the might MACHINE HEAD took over the Best Buy Theater in New York City. Joining the Bay Area Metallers were Suicide Silence and Darkest Hour. Around 9:30, the mighty MACHINE HEAD returned to New York City after many years of not stepping on stage in the city that never stops rocking! Talk about a comeback show. This time around MACHINE HEAD brought with them an impressive aural and visual show that stimulated the senses of 2,000+ headbangers. Hearing their NEW songs live, proved to our ears that once again MACHINE HEAD has reinvented their musical craft with 'Unto The Locust'.

As oppose to other bands that wont perform a significant set time after having numerous albums under their belt, MACHINE HEAD pulled out their musical arsenal and included songs from every single one of their releases. An emotional Robb Flynn thanked New York City for always receiving his band with arms wide open, plenty of adrenaline, and tons of headbanging! MACHINE HEAD Return To New York City With “The Eighth Plague” Tour - Badass Pictures Available!

Machine Head are currently destroying venues all over North American on their first headline tour in four years. Their promise of reducing venues to piles of rubble and dust during “The Eighth Plague” tour, has definitely been kept so far.

This past Friday (February 3), the band took over the Best Buy Theater in New York City. Joining the Bay Area Metallers were Suicide Silence and Darkest Hour. Going into this show we knew that this lineup would be the perfect recipe for a night of musical greatness! While all three bands possess very different musical styles, they all share the same philosophy: put on a great show in order to make sure that everyone gets their money's worth.

D.C.'s Darkest Hour kicked off the “The Eighth Plague” New York City show at around 7:30 and took advantage of every minute they had to rock the hell out of the hundreds of headbangers. While their set was short and sweet, they definitely shook the entire floor up and got things warmed up Machine Head and Suicide Silence.

Then it was time for Suicide Silence to stomp on stage and devour ear drums. If there is a band that deserved to open for Machine Head this time around, that band is Suicide Silence. The Californian extreme Metallers never go on stage unprepared, because they understand how competitive the music market is today. Their live show is one to be reckon with and we predict many more years of musical madness for these young bucks.

Machine Head's Phil Demmel Discusses NEW DVD & Announces Engagement!

As we all know, Machine Head's Phil Demmel is not only one of the most talented shredders in Heavy Music today, but he is also one of the nicest guys in the music business. Recently, Artisan News caught up with Demmel at the Dimebash event at the Key Club in Hollywood, California. During the interview, Demmel spoke about the production of the band's long-awaited DVD featuring footage from the extensive tour in support of 2007's critically acclaimed album "The Blackening".

"We toured on 'The Blackening' for three years, [played] almost four hundred shows, [and] we have footage from everything," commented Demmel. "So much happened on that tour — our drummer's mom died, my dad died… So much happened to us. We almost broke up, we went to therapy… All this different shit happened. So we're trying to put all of this together. It's just too much [to include in a single DVD package]. So we wanna whittle it down and create a cool story."

In other news, Phil Demmel recently announced that he is engaged to Bleeding Through's keyboardist Marta Peterson. Demmel and Peterson started dating when their bands toured together in Australia and Japan in early 2010. Peterson was twice named "Hottest Chick" in Metal by Revolver magazine.

"I met the girl of my dreams in Australia the last time we were down there. One of the greatest things that has ever happened to me was on that run. I have very special memories of Australia and knowing that I was in love for the first time when I was in Brisbane." - Phil Demmel

Phil has a five-year-old son, Jadon Philip Demmel, with "rock model" Jamie Jagger.

Darkest Hour - Demon(s)

Machine Head with friends visited Sweden, their second gig during the European tour. Arenan, Fryshuset was their hangout during this evening. Darkest Hour was the first band out during that evening, a bunch of incredible "Down to Earth" dudes. One odd thing was that the guys really liked purple, Mike C had dyed his hair purple, John H was dressed in purple, Mike S had a purple t-shirt, their guitar case was purple. At one point I actually had to ask why all this purple, Mike C said "We just want to be a little crazy"

Darkest Hour is an American heavy metal band from Washington, D.C., formed in 1995. Though failing to break early in their career, the band has received acclaim for their albums Undoing Ruin, Deliver Us, and The Eternal Return. The latest and seventh release from the band is "The Human Romance". The album was released on February 22, 2011

Current members
* John Henry – vocals (1995–present)
* Mike "Lonestar" Carrigan – guitar (2008–present)
* Mike Schleibaum – guitar (1995–present)
* Ryan Parrish – drums (1999–present)
* Paul Burnette – bass guitar (2001–present)

Here is some pictures from the show:

Todays tune "Demon(s)" is taken from the fifth studio "Deliver Us". It was released on July 10, 2007 through Victory Records. The Producer was Devin Townsend. The song is featured in Guitar Hero 5. The artwork was created by John Baizley who has also done art for bands such as Pig Destroyer, Daughters, and his own band Baroness.

Bring Me The Horizon - Visions

Bring Me the Horizon are a British metalcore band from Sheffield, Yorkshire, who formed in 2004. Their name is derived from the last line of the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, in which Captain Jack Sparrow says "Now... Bring me that horizon." They have released three studio albums and one extended play and Remix album.

That the band's latest album have been played much at my home recently, I will give all the credit to Robert "Chief Rebel Angel" for the introduction, BMTH has never been a big favorite at my house until I earlier this year became convinced during a evening in the sign of rock, after that i gave BMTH chance and I was hooked. During almost the whole summer have BMTH latest record been spinning nearly constant and is virtually overplayed at this point. So a tune from them today, does it make sense?

Todays tune "Visions" is the brand new video from the third full-length studio album "There Is a Hell, Believe Me, I've Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let's Keep It a Secret". The clip was directed by Plastic Kid, the alter ego of Copenhagen-based avant-garde graphic designer and filmmaker Jakob Printzlau. Enjoy!

Simon Neil of the band Biffy Clyro chose the album as his choice in an article on the "It is one of the best metal records I have heard in years: jam-packed with ideas and energy, and, most importantly for a metal record, the vocals don't make you cringe."
