August Burns Red was one of the acts on the Lamb Of God package that visit Stockholm 2 days ago for a show. So todays tune will dedicated to them. This is the 2:nd time i worked with this youngsters and i see that they have grown since then but still they look like clean-cut suburban kids, but when they plug in to play, they unleash a precise, powerfully emotional metalcore. And they have won a great bunch of fans during the years as when they entred the stage the crowd got mad. So i guess i could say that many of the fans was there for just this band. ABR did delivred a intensive and hard show for the 30 mins that they had on stage. So hard that Brent did got injured, not to bad, so i guess he was able to perform yesterday.
August Burns Red was formed in Lancaster, PA, in March 2002, and took their name from a local news story in which a troubled teenage girl set fire to a pet dog belonging to her former boyfriend. Featuring vocalist Jake Luhrs, guitarists J.B. Brubaker and Brent Rambler, bassist Jordan Tuscan, and drummer Matt Greiner. The band is mostly known for their heavy breakdowns and odd-meter riffs. They also cite Between the Buried and Me, Misery Signals and Hopesfall as their main influences. August Burns Red's music is often defined as Christian metalcore.
Todays tune "Meddler" is taken from thier 3:rd studio album "Constellations" 2009
This week has been very hard week on the musical scene, to mention some of the bands, there has been bands like "Fear Factory", "M.A.N", "Hypocrisy", "Scar Symmetry", "Lamb Of God", "August Burns Red", "Job For A Cowboy" and "Between The Buried And Me" all that mixed up with "Tokio Hotel" and "Yeahsayer" so a very hard week indeed.
And now i will talk about one band from the metal package that entered the doors at Arenan yesterday. Lamb Of God is out touring in Europe with "August Burns Red", "Job For A Cowboy" and "Between The Buried And Me" (More of that the upcoming days).
15 years ago, Lamb of God began their ascent to the forefront of modern heavy metal. A self-described "pure American metal" quintet from Richmond, USA. Due to the variety of influences, stylistic elements and changes throughout the band's career the press has chosen several genres and terms to describe Lamb of God's music. Lamb of God has been labeled as a Groove Metal band. Campbell, on the Walk With Me in Hell DVD, says that Lamb of God is "a punk band that plays heavy metal", while Chris Adler refers to Sacrament as a speed metal album.
Thanks to brutal and technical albums like "New American Gospel" 2000 and "As the Palaces Burn" 2003, the band began their international career overseas. Entering 2004, 10 years after inception, the band had risen to the top of the independent metal scene. Five years ago, Lamb of God surprised the hell out of everyone ” including themselves ” by attracting the attention of and soon after inking a deal with Epic Records. "How does an extreme band like us even exist at this kind of upper-echelon major label?" remembers guitarist Mark Morton. Lamb of God has built a career and a catalog of material that has inspired and fueled the evolution of Heavy Metal in the new millennium. 'Wrath' combines every lesson learned and years of experience. The album is a testament to the integrity of the band, choosing well into their career, on their terms, to go further and push harder rather than ever before. 'Wrath' may very well be, in many ways, their crowning achievement.
Lamb of God (LOG) consists of vocalist Randy Blythe, guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler, bassist John Campbell, and drummer Chris Adler.
Was a great day with alot of laughs between the setup, did have some great chats with Mickey (Chris Adlers) drum tech who also have worked with "Meshuggah" (The best metal band in the world, regarding to Mickey) LOG had a meet and greet during this day and let some fans to come to the venue and meet the band. When the time came for soundcheck and the fans came in from the backstage the got a bit confused, thats not LOG on stage :) No it was not LOG on stage. Chris had invited some of his friends to come over for the gig and soundcheck, so on stage was part of the band "Mustasch" and behind the drums was Danne McKenzie and Mats Johansson grabbed John's bass, also David Johannesson borrowed Marks guitar. So it looks cool to see the faces on the fans when the guys was jaming on stage. Mark, Wille, John and Chris joined up for the jam, sounded really cool and the real soundcheck was on. And for the main show, well these guys can rock for real, the sound was great and the lightning was very nice. I do like what i saw and enjoyed it alot.
Also notice a post on Metalyse (In Swedish) earlier today about this gig where he said that this was the best LOG show ever and one of the best shows of all time, thats a hell of a review. And LOG is well worth it. So if the tour is coming to your town, go and buy a ticket and watch the show you wont regret it. Check below for rest of the tour.
Todays tune "Set to Fail" is taken from their latest record "Wrath" Enjoy!

Yeasayer is a pretty unknown band for me until yesterday, they had a concert at Debaser, Medis in Stockholm. I did Tokio Hotel on thursday and Yeasayer yesterday, at first i was going to do Hotel as The Tune Of The Day... but..uhm...I choosed Yeasayer :D
This band comes from Brooklyn, New York. Started up in 2006, so its pretty new.
They play a kinda experimental psychedelic rock, pop with a lot of synth but in a psychedelic way :)
I really liked the guys, very down to earth a confident and happy bunch of guys. They liked beer :)
In 2008, Yeasayer toured with MGMT and Man Man and supported Beck. The same year, a public a cappella concert, "Take Away Show", was performed on the Paris metro.
Yeasayer put a lot of their harmonic tunes in their voices lots of diffrent tones and they sound very good as well. They are three basic players wich is Chris Keating on lead vocals, keyboards Anand Wilder on guitars, keyboards, backing vocals Ira Wolf Tuton on bass guitar, backing vocals
Sometimes they have additional musicians with them that can be: Jason Trammell – drums (Was there) Ahmed Gallab – timbales, electronic percussion (Not there) Jerry Marotta – drums, Taos drums, percussion (Mayby there, a bit unsure but I think so) Kevin Bewersdorf – piano, synthesizers (Not there) Stuart Bogie – horns, bass harmonica, Jew's harp Stuart by the way was also in the band "Tv On The Radio" that I did last year as a Tune of The Day. Unfortunally he wasent with Yeasayer last night. Steven Stetson – horns (Not there)
They are on their way to Oslo as I write. Then after that, March 8 at VEGA SMALL HALL in COPENHAGEN, DENMARK March 9 at KNUST in HAMBURG, GERMANY March 10 at POSTBAHNHOF in BERLIN, GERMANY March 11 at 59/1 in MUNICH, GERMANY March 12 at EXIL in ZURICH, SWITZERLAND March 15 at TUNNEL in MILAN, ITALY March 17 at CARACOL in MADRID, SPAIN March 19 at LE TRABENDO in PARIS, FRANCE March 20 at PARADISO in AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS after that they will go back to the US.
This tune comes from their latest album called "Odd Blood"
Hypocrisy is a Swedish melodic death metal band formed in Ludvika in 1990. Hypocrisy history began as a solo project of Peter Tägtgren (current frontman of the band) under the name of Seditious. In the late 80s to early 90s, Tägtgren lived in the U.S. and played there for a period of Malevolent Creation. He was strongly influenced by the American death metal scene and then returned to Sweden. At the beginning Hypocrisy wrote predominantly anti-religious lyrics, as Magnus "Masse" Broberg was the frontman and singer. When "Masse" decided to leave the band, guitarist Peter Tägtgren took over as frontman, and the lyrics began to increasingly deal with supernatural phenomena, such as aliens and abduction.
Hypocrisy's 11th album "A Taste of Extreme Divinity" was released on 23 October 2009. In North America, the album was released on 3 November it contains three bonus tracks, "The Sinner" and demo versions of "Taste the Extreme Divinity" and "Valley of the Damned" from 2008. The album continues where their previous works "Virus" ended. Production is okey, the songs are solid, well written and it's a heavily riffing album.
On November 17, 2009 Hypocrisy cancelled their U.S. tour because of troubles with the U.S. immigration in regards with Ensiferum, Ex Deo, and Blackguard. After cancelling earlier in 2009, Hypocrisy has now confirmed a North American tour for 2010. Joining Hypocrisy on the 'Long Time, No Death' tour are Hate, Blackguard and Swashbuckle. From January to March 2010 they are touring in Germany, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia, and finishing in Moscow. Their North American tour will take place around May. They will also play the Summer Breeze festival in August. See Tour dates below.
Hypocrisy is in doing the scandinavia dates now and tonight they will clatter and rattle at Klubben here in Stockholm, it is certainly going to be a cruel gig, which I unfortunately can not attend, still have a little one sick at home and Thetania are out and flapping elsewhere this evening . So I hope someone out there can tell us how it was. As support act on the tour is the Swedish ”Scar Symmetry”.

Second day at home with a sick little one, today the music has been traveled between older styles of Rock, Neil Young, Sword to Wolfmother and ended up with a nice found on Spotify...Krokus is back...hola. Connected the computer to the Stereo, so i was able to listen to it for real.. sounded great, also the little one did get loose on the 3:rd song, a cover track "Born To Be Wild" when she was lying in the sofa watching her father playing air guitar, but after that she falled into sleep...poor her. Need to listen to it more to be able to get a review, but the first round sounded cool, it's the classic Krokus rock.
Krokus is a hard rock/heavy metal band from Switzerland and was founded in Solothurn in 1974 by bassist (and original lead vocalist) Chris von Rohr and guitarist Tommy Kiefer. Former Eazy Money vocalist Marc Storace joined the band as frontman in time for their Metal Rendez-vous album in 1980. The music style is a typical mid-80's hardrock with simple, radio-friendly riffs and chanted choruses as many hardrock bands from that time had as a recipe for making music and writing lyrics.
The band name "Krokus" evolved from the word for a flower common to the region of southern Europe, the crocus. Early in the spring of 1975, band founder Chris von Rohr observed a field of these flowers while traveling by train. He was returning from L'Ecole des Chefs located in France after an aborted career in the culinary arts, and it was around this time the idea for a Metal band was formed. The band members stated that it was the perfect name, since it features "Rock" right in the middle.
According to music website Blabbermouth.net, they have sold over 13 million albums worldwide. For 30 years now, Krokus has been Switzerland's most successful rock export. No other band sells albums from its back catalogue like Krokus. Krokus has spent two years creating a fiery new album (Hoodoo Woman - 2010) that todays tune is taken from Enjoy!
This is what their peers had to say:
Lemmy (Motörhead): "Krokus toured with us in the US in 1982 and I found them to be a fine young lot of loonies full of vim and foolishness! I know the reunion works well for them and good luck with the new album"
Alice Cooper, Everybody knows, KROKUS rules. Rock on, boys!"(574 KB, MP3 File)
A new day, a new month but still the same year. This is the month were the spring feelings should arrive, but hell no, it's snowing outside :) I have been home the hole day as one of my little ones are sick. So there has been alot of time to listen to music between Bamse and Bollibompa, she loves music witch is great and it makes life so much easier. Yesterday it was time for Kent again, they did 4 sold out shows at Annexet in Stockholm, kinda cool show indeed. But today it wont be Kent. I found something in the big bunch of new records that i haven't listen to yet but today i got the chance to play a few of them and i pick one that i will talk about today.
I have listen to Bruce Kulick's third solo effort, titled "BK3". Okay, it's not the most of original of titles I know. But the name isn't surprising as Bruce is a laid back kind of guy. Bruce Kulick (born on December 12, 1953 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American guitarist. Previously Kulick had been a long time member of the band Kiss (1984-1996). After that he had the band Union with John Corabi (Motley Crue) who released a pair of studio albums. 2001 did Bruce went on to Grand Funk Railroad, where he still swing his guitar. Bruce has released three solo albums, Audio Dog in 2001, Transformer in 2003 ND "BK3" IN 2010. "BK3" was released on February, 2, 2010.
About his latest record, BK3:
Kulick's lyrics are well crafted and his guitar work is outstanding. This is the best solo album record to date from Bruce. It's good, solid hard rock with great songs, its catchy, well played and strong. It includes ballads, rocking tunes and instrumental vibes. It isn't likely that BK3 will get a whole lot of notice outside the army of diehard KISS fans, and that's unfortunate. Bruce vocals have come a long way from his singing debut on Kiss' "I Walk Alone", but he still have a long way to go, but somehow i do like what he do. A nice part is that Nick Simmons (Gene Simmons son) grabs the microphone and he sounds not far from his father other guest artists are Gene Simmons, Eric Singer, Steve Lukather, Doug Fieger, Tobias Sammet and John Corabi. Tunes as "Ain't Gonna Die", "No Friend Of Mine" and "Between The Lines" are my favorites from BK3. But there is more great tunes, take for example the Pink Floyd inspired tune "I'll Survive" and the new single "Hand Of The King". So if you are into melodic hard rock then this album is a worthy investment.
Todays tune "No Friend Of Mine", is a emotional track where we hear Kulick and Corabi team up once again. This is from Bruce Kulick's 1st show in Australia in 2009 Dec 12 *his Birthday*
