Circle Takes the Square - Enter By The Narrow Gates

 

Circle Takes the Square (CTTS) is an American screamo band from Savannah, Georgia. Their debut release was a 7-track self-titled EP in 2001, followed later by a 7" split with Pg. 99. Circle Takes the Square has been described as being a "blend of progressive experimentation and DIY hardcore, metal, and noise...characterised by a natural fusion of grindcore and the sweeping guitar dynamics of post-punk".

CTTS did well and for a band that I did not know before I was a little amazed, The audience was nothing wrong with, the people knew the band before. The band showered on tightly, which can be seen in the pictures and video from the event. The band toured only with 3 members, dunno really what happend to the fourth.

Todays tune "Enter By The Narrow Gates" is taken from "Decompositions, Volume I, Chapter 1: Rites of Initiation" that was released on August 23, 2011 through the group's own Gatepost Recordings. The EP was also released as a limited edition of CDs, sold at Circle Takes the Square shows in late 2011 and early 2012. They have said that the new record will be titled Decompositions, Vol. 1. They have also stated that Decompositions, Vol. 1 will be part of an even larger project called Decompositions.

Kylesa - Crowded Road

 

Kylesa is a sludge metal band that was formed 2001 in Savannah, Georgia. Taking their name
from "kilesa mara", a Buddhist term denoting delusory mental states.
Their music incorporates experimentalism with sludgy riffs, drop-tuned guitars, crust punk, and elements of psychedelic rock.

The group was established by the former members of Damad, with the addition of guitar
player Laura Pleasants. The band has since the start gone thru some line up changes.
The remaining original members are Phillip Cope and Laura Pleasants. The band uses two drummers
to get a more massive sound, the dual drum tracks are often panned strongly to the right and left.

A little over a week ago (Yes, I know I'm late with this) did Kylesa (Along with "KEN Mode" & Circle Takes The Square) a stop here in Stockholm to gig
at Studion, Kulturhuset. Sums up the concert a little quickly, thought it was good,
loud, but clear. The band delivers a good and rocking show. The dual drums provides the live experience
with a large and solid sound thats providing a real boost to the band.

The Pushead-designed Band Logo from these releases has been used on all the bands
merchandise and releases ever since.

"Help GHOUL Buy A Tour Van"; Creepsylvanian Maniaxe Launch Kickstarter Project!

Creepsylvania's finest, the mighty GHOUL, are gearing up to hit the road HARD this spring (with the likes of GWAR, MUNICIPAL WASTE, and Kylesa)! And they need a helping hand from their beloved Ghoulunatics to make sure they survive the trek. The band have created a Kickstarter project in hopes of raising enough dough to snag a NEW tour van to keep the carnage rollin'. Digestor implores you, "Ghoul needs a tour van and we need YOUR help, Numbskulls!"

"Help GHOUL buy a van! Being mutants from a far-away country who barely know how to read and write, and who have limited access to non-pickled-cabbage-related currency, we have a lot of trouble finding transportation in your country. The last tour we did we ended up lashing ourselves to the roof of the headliner's merch truck every night after the show. Not only did they not appreciate the extra gas money we cost them, but we all ended up getting sick with the flu and Dissector was hit in the face by a passing pigeon not once, but twice. Now YOU, the noble and courageous Numbskull, have a chance to help US, the poor, benighted cannibals of Ghoul, by donating to our Kickstarter campaign. With (hopefully) a NEW van to ferry them across this dread continent, GHOUL, will be continuing their mammoth US trek with GWAR with an additional round of live assaults. Joined by prog-doomsters KYLESA and LEGACY OF DISORDER. The band will be shredding through classic cuts as well as newer material from 2011's critically acclaimed and viciously fun Transmission Zero (now available on CD/LP/digitally from Tankcrimes).

In addition, GHOUL will be offering up a special treat for fans of sweet tunes and weird formats - a limited edition foil-stamped flexi, available only from the band themselves and their cohorts at Tankcrimes. Digestor smirks, "We did a cover of "Kids in America" by Kim Wylde, and it was recorded by a dude named Casey Westrope, or at least that's what it looks like his drivers license says. It's hard to read what with all the blood. Our version is about being trapped in the doldrums of everyday life in the catacombs and dreaming of escaping to America to savagely murder our fans. I'm happy to say we'll soon see the dream become reality."

The "Return of the World Maggot" tour kicks off in Richmond, VA on March 16th, 2012 with a special tribute show to benefit the family of GWAR's Cory Smoot, AKA Flattus Maximus, who recently passed away. All proceeds from the Richmond show will benefit the "Smoot Family Fund." The first leg of the tour will feature RVA thrash titans MUNICIPAL WASTE as direct support for fellow Richmond metal legends GWAR, with KYLESA taking their place later on.
