Slaughter of the Bluegrass - Blinded By Fear

Slaughter of the Bluegrass from Stockholm, Sweden, it’s a band that plays unplugged versions of death metal songs. They use traditional bluegrass instruments and arrangement ideas and try to keep the essence of each song they cover. Reminds me of Hellsongs who also do remakes off old tunes.

This is what SOTB says about the band:

People ask us why we choose to play metal songs, and we answer them that we just want to play good songs, which in this case happens to be in that particular genre. As it turned out, people who aren't used to hearing growling vocals, guitars drenched is distorsion and heavy drums, could still appreciate these compositions, only in a new form.

Slaughter of the Bluegrass is:

Peter Norlinder: Vocals, banjo, mandolin.
Dan Norman: Acoustic guitar, accordion, percussion, backing vocals.
Hannah Sundqvist: Violin, vocals.
Alexander 'Alke' Lindberg: Drums, percussion, backing vocals.
Niklas ’Nille’ Sandin: Bass, backing vocals.
Tomas Åkvik: Banjo, backing vocals.

As for today, during Metaltown i choosed to pick a song from a band that was suppose to end up a few years back but somehow is back on stage again, im not sure if i should be pissed or happy about it.
Anyway its At The Gates i’m talking about, they will play tonight at Metaltown on Red Stage at 22:00
so if you are there, have fun and tell me how it was.

So pour yourself a cup of moonshine and relax to some great music!

Todays tune ”Blinded By Fear” is originally taken from At The Gates ”Slaughter Of The Soul” and got released back in 1995, todays version is just awesome, done as a hillbilly tune, just hit play and enjoy!

Click here to listen to it right on the spot!

Hazmat Modine - Two Harmonicas

Stockholm had their annual Jazz & Blues festival last week.
I was working a bit there in the end, unfortunally I didnt see this band.
Never heard of this group as of now.

They play the harmonica so good.

Its a blues and roots musical group from New York, and their lead singer, Wade Schuman sings very bluesy but this song is a mix of blues and reggie in my ear.

They are 8 in the band and no bass player.
2 harmonicas, 2 gitarrs one tuba, saxophone, drums and a trumpet.
Pretty cool set.

Ah well enjoy duuuuudes and duuuuudettes!

Rockamovya - Warrior Sound

The three founding members of Groundation (Harrison Stafford, Marcus Urani and Ryan Newman) join forces with the legendary Jamaican drummer Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace (who worked with numerous reggae artists including The Gladiators, Inner Circle, Prince Far I, Sound Dimension, Burning Spear and Ijahman Levi.) and the grammy nominated Jazz guitarist Will Bernard (has played with many musicians including Jai Uttal and the Pagan Love Orchestra, The Coup, Robert Walter's 20th Congress, MG5 (formerly Frequinox), Idris Muhammad, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Zigaboo Modeliste, Groundation and the Stanton Moore Trio.) to form Rockamovya. The name comes from Leroy Horsemouth Wallace, Jamaican patios style and is meant to show the unity and power of the music.

The sound is fresh and little different from the Groundation works, but it remains deeply rooted in Reggae and Jamaican popular music with influences of Soul and Jazz. Harrisons voice is still very powerful, so you can feel the Groundation rhythms. This is a record i can recommend to all fans of Groundation.

Peter Tosh - Johnny Be Goode

Peter Tosh, born Winston Hubert McIntosh (October 9, 1944 – September 11, 1987) was the guitarist in the original Wailing Wailers, a reggae musician, and a trailblazer for the Rastafari movement.

Tosh grew up in the Kingston, Jamaica slum of Trenchtown. He stood out because of his height at 6 feet, 4 inches. His short-fuse temper and unveiled sarcasm usually kept him in trouble, earning him the nickname Stepping Razor after a song written by Joe Higgs, an early mentor. He began to sing and learn guitar at a young age, inspired by the American stations he could pick up on his radio. After an illustrious career with the Wailers and as a solo musician, he was murdered at his home. Though robbery was officially said to be the motivation behind Tosh's death, many believe that there were ulterior motives to the killing, citing that nothing was taken from the house.

Just listen and enjoy!!
